About this project
WE NEED YOUR HELP IN FUNDING OUR NEXT CONCERT IN DECEMBER!!!
WHO ARE WE???
FANTASHIQUE APPRENTICE DANCE COMPANY!!!
Our dance company is primarily funded out-of-pocket by VH1's Royce Reed! We teach lyrical/contemporary, jazz and hip hop to girls ages 5-17. Fantashique is truly an outlet for our girls. Most haven’t had formal dance training and wouldn’t be able to afford the tuition rates at other studios. At Fantashique, each young lady is allowed to fulfill their dream of dancing without any boundaries.
But our company is not just about the expression of dance; we also mentor. We encourage the ladies to stay grounded, and be confident. We ensure that each excels in school and require them to maintain a C+ grade average or higher. Our code of conduct is very strict and prohibits racy photos, explicit language on social networks and much more. We also consistently stress the importance of self and sisterly love.
We are so proud of our company! When we started this journey in November 2011 we had only 17 girls. Today, we proudly fund more than 70! And now we need your help!!! Our fall dance concert will be held December 8th & 9th and Royce can’t do it alone. Your donations will help us secure a rental/performance space for the show, and purchase costumes and accessories for the girls to wear.
We have an awesome core of parents and dancers and hope you will find it in your heart to donate. The opening video above is our company performing at the Tom Joyner Family Reunion held this year during Labor Day Weekend.
Also added is a video of the girls rehearsing a routine Choreographed by Royce Reed to Maxwell's This Woman's Work for an upcoming performing at a Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon.
This is a video of the girls practicing a routine choreographed by Maddy Owens-Wooten to Wrong Side of a Love Song for the show in December.
Check out our video below of Charter 17’s first concert in May 2012 where you can see the variety of dance styles we teach from Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary and Hip Hop! And help us make this next show great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Risks and challenges
Working with a core group of girls has its risks and challenges. Whether its grades or lack of self-respect we have to deal with these issues on occasion. Grades and self-respect are number 1 to this company followed by dance. There will be circumstances where girls are pulled from dances and performances due to their not following the code of conduct and their contract.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
