Sola is the first professional feature film by Writer / Director Luke Mordue. A film set in a post-apocalyptic Britain.
Our protagonist is Eden, the last human on earth. Left alone to wander the empty streets of London but with this new world comes new threats… The household pets, such as dogs have been forced into the wild, adapting into fierce hunters, roaming for food.
We follow Eden as she survives in this dangerous environment whilst reflecting on the destructive, spiraling path of depression that tore her life apart in the world before. At the center of the suspense & thrills of the story comes heart, a deeper tale into mental illness, what it can do & how it feels.
Eden is fighting to stay alive but when you have nothing to live for, what is there to keep you moving forward?

Everywhere! ... Don’t get me wrong it has moments of despair & sadness (it is an apocalypse film after all) but ultimately the story is meant to convey hope, understanding & empathy. There are many moments of thrills, excitement & even horror jumping out of random corners of the film too.
Just because it is a story about depression, does not mean it is a depressing story…

I am Luke Mordue, Writer / Producer / Director of 'SOLA' who has battled a Bipolar Disorder since childhood, this is the reason why the subject matter is so important to me, it is still widely misunderstood & ignored in today’s society. It is an international problem that exists even in todays world. Did you know mental illness affects 1 in 4 people? Well this film is your film! It is made for you.
The others are Producing team Nathaniel Francis, James Littlewood & Anthony Woodley. (To find out more about these guys, scroll down)

You’ll get good karma & that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you contribute to dreams coming true, for that day you will be your own little film related Santa Clause. But of course even Santa deserves a gift or two so take a look at our wonderful incentives to the right of the page.
Here’s a little more info on them to wet your appetite further…

Eden is a 30 something woman living in London, England. In the world before, she had a good job, a loving husband & a beautiful, charming little girl, but even with these she suffers deeply from Depression & Anxiety. After a long time of trying to ignore it and pretending everything is okay the cracks in her life begin to show as she spirals further into a self destructive path, pushing all she loves away from her.
In the new world Eden is the sole survivor in a post-apocalyptic Britain, she scavenges for food, keeping fit and able to live whilst avoiding any contact with the wild animals that now hunt the streets. In this world Eden seems to have three enemies, the wild animals, Mother Nature & herself.
It is no secret that although the world is improving in its understanding, Men & Women are still not equal, this is shown clearly in the film industry. In 2013 only 14% of the highest-grossing films had female leads, 22% starred ensemble leads & a much bigger 64% starred male leads.
Eden is a layered, interesting, strong female lead without her becoming ‘Tomb Raider-ish’. We need to bring diversity to film & it is down to us all as filmmakers to be the ones who bring this to light.

We are very lucky to have the very talented Ewan Mulligan as our DoP (Director of Photography) onboard the project that I feel will bring the beauty of our Post Apocalyptic world to life.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T REACH YOUR TARGET?
Then we get diddly squat & nothing leaves your bank account, Kick-starter is all or nothing. No money will leave you but that will also mean we cannot work on Pre-Production on the film! That is why we need you… and your family, friends, colleagues, cats, dogs, stalkers… So please! Even if you yourself can’t donate, help us by spreading the news on social networks or word of mouth.
WHEN DOES MY MONEY COME OUT OF MY ACCOUNT?
The money won’t leave your account until our 30 days stint on Kickstarter is over & we have received our total funds. So if you want to pledge but won’t be paid until the end of the month, THAT’S FINE! It doesn’t leave your account until then anyway!
IS MY PLEDGE AMOUNT PUBLICLY DISPLAYED?
Nope! Only you & the project creator will be able to see what you have pledged.
CAN I INCREASE MY PLEDGE ONCE IT'S ALREADY BEEN MADE?
INDEED YOU CAN! Once you’ve pledged to our campaign, you might want to change your reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do this all you have to do is go to Kick-starter & sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
I'M NOT IN THE UK. CAN I STILL PLEDGE?
Yes! You can pledge from anywhere in the world! All you need is a debit or credit card… It's literally that easy!
HOW DO WE CONTACT YOU?

Risks and challenges
Life is full of risk and filmmaking is no different.
Our biggest challenge will be getting to production by July. Although we feel it is a realistic date, it is often (especially in the UK) that schedules change due to weather, crew/cast not being available for certain dates. So even though we are aiming for a July shoot, this date might slip by a month or two.
We are extremely confident we will be granted with the funding we need to get us through production & post-production on the project as we already have an investment opportunity in place. With this kickstarter campaign it can only emphasise the ability we have to make a great film to them. Either way this film will be made, it is just the way it is made that may change.
& whilst we are here, thank you very much for even looking at our campaign, it is very important to us & we can't wait to film it this summer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
