About

Introduction: 

We want to bring the world of aviation to our schools to promote physics, math, chemistry, design, engineering, meteorology and robotics. To promote innovation and to show the students how all of the science disciplines fit together. We want to do this by designing and developing a comprehensive Science Unit Plan consisting of lesson plans that explain numerous aerodynamics, physics, math and other scientific concepts that align with current academic programs for regular science, STEM, and after school programs. This would include extensive videos, text, lab exercises and manuals to step the students and instructors through the program, where they will design, build, test and fly a real working aircraft. 

Teams will be developed to perform these tasks. At the end of the program each team will compete with each other to prove their understanding in a real world environment. This will take place as an air race and performance competition. I believe it is important to promote real world problem solving in order to get our children ready to enter the real world. 

Our program prepares kids to be able to dig in, research, and solve real world problems utilizing the building of a real aircraft. We will start our program with Westlake Middle School in Broomfield Colorado. We are currently working with Westlake's Science Department to ensure comprehensive connection to the national science standards in which they will be implementing for the first time during the 2013/14 school year. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a great school and to bring aviation and all of the sciences into one classroom experience.

In addition we want to bring a learn to fly program to our wounded veterans. We have already conducted two classes with The Wounded Warrior Project and will be using the Flight School portion of this project to help educate and teach the men and women of the armed services.

We Can't Do This Alone:

 

Joe Falconer has a Bachelor’s from Colorado State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Denver. Joe is also a pilot and earned his Private Pilot, Commercial, Instrument, Instructor, Instrument Instructor, Multi-Engine and Multi-Engine Instructor licenses from the Federal Aviation Administration. He flew with the airlines and has thousands of hours flying passengers all over the country. Joe has also worked within the information technology sector for 20 years. Joe brings over 25 years’ experience building, designing, kitting and flying all sorts of remote control aircraft.

 

Colonel, USAF, Ret Dean Falconer brings over 30 years experience in Management Consulting, including Personnel, Financial and Time Management. His project management skills have kept us on track and our deadlines tight.

MaryLeigh Falconer brings over 15 years experience as an operations manager. She helps with everything from setting up our networks, to building computers to fulfilling orders. She is also our email campaign artist and proofreader. We couldn't do what we do without her help.

Chris Klodetsky has had an affinity for flight since the age of 8. Since the time his step-father showed him what a rubbered-band powered Guillow’s kit could be, he has been hooked. The design, structure, and execution of an aircraft, whether fixed-wing or rotary, has created an explosion of ingenuity. From transforming your, do-it-yourself kits, to 10 dollar WalMart “foamies”, to full-blown CAD (3 month’er) scratch-built kits. Chris brings 20 years of RC aircraft flying and building to the Falcon RC family.

Mark is currently the manager of digital design strategy at Truven Health Analytics. He is the user experience designer for the corporate web site as well as produces videos, info graphics and has many years of branding experience. He is a fifth generation Colorado native whose family history includes co-founding the city of Littleton, CO. He has spent a lot of time in the Colorado Rockies climbing fourteen thousand foot peaks, and used this experience to climb much higher peaks in the Nepal Himalayas to visit Mt. Everest. He has a serious photography hobby and spends much of his time with his wife and two active boys, ages 9 and 4.

My name is Ryan J Fitzgerald and I've been teaching middle school science for twelve years.  Nothing quite compares to the reward of seeing the facial expressions of a teenage mind turning on the light bulb above their heads after understanding the concept for the first time. Maybe my own joy after shooting even par for the first time or catching first tracks on a deep powder day, but that's a different story.  I am looking forward to seeing this joy in students' learning and understanding by utilizing Falcon RC airplanes.  Please help us spread the concepts of science in unique and engaging ways.

Risks and challenges

We know what we are good at and what we are not good at. Video production and writing are not our forte'. We plan on hiring a professional videographer to create professional quality videos and media. In addition we will hire writers and teachers.
