Many more reviews are coming... we'll let you know
We were able to find some enthusiastic investors already who believed enough in this little gem to get a small print-run going. That means we can do a prelaunch of the base game of Ortus at Essen this year.
So why do this Kickstarter?
We've already invested countless hours, energy, love and time into this project. Besides the money. That's because we are certain that this game rocks! And games that rock need to get to the hands of players who appreciate these things. Going Kickstarter makes sure we'll be able to get the game to your hands, whatever happens and wherever you are.
Second, this campaign will make it possible for us to set up a beautiful miniature line. It's not only a dream of ours we've noticed to play Ortus using detailed, heavy playing pieces. We've heard many many voices expressing a wish for a miniature line. With your help we can make this possible.
There's more on this of course. Just scroll down.
We've noticed that KS backers can really come together and form an army of committed heroes around a game. As the Ortus universe has still much potential to expand we would love to get your support, ideas and comments. Feed us input! Yummie
FableSmith believes that good games deserve the highest quality treatment possible, from its graphic design to final production. A gaming experience should be enhanced, never lessened by the component quality. So we are happy to tell you that Ortus is in the professional hands of the people at LudoFact, Germany. The same people who produce Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne etc.
Like what you see? Here are some more reasons to get on board now.
- Backers are sure to get their hands on Ortus. While Ortus will have a pre-release in Essen this year, distribution to stores around the world still needs to be set up. Backing Ortus here guarantees you a copy, estimated to arrive this year still! Backers are of course welcome to meet us at our booth to pick up their copy.
- Best price. Even if you missed the Early bird specials, supporting us now will still be the cheapest way for you to get Ortus on your table.
- We love interacting with you. Know that we are always listening to your comments and we'll respond as much as possible. Getting a conversation going with gamers is very important to us!
- Kickstarter exclusives. To show all you believers how much we appreciate your support, we've managed to do something really cool. Every backers from the $38,- level and up will receive a set of exclusive METAL GUIDES with the logos of both Houses, representing the players. A huge upgrade from the wooden disks in the regular game.
- You make more possible. It's a risky business to do this as a fledgeling company. It's not a small card game we're talking about here. More support means more possibilities for the base game, future expansions and other designs. Behind everything you see on this page are professional people who put their skills to work to shape the world of Ortus. And everybody is eager to keep building.
Ortus has its origin as a wish to get to play miniature games more often. That is why Ortus is designed to play in 30 to 45 minutes so all you need now is a friend close by and a little bit of free time!
Well our friends at Maki games are making this dream possible. We are now working hard to make the miniature line possible for Ortus. We're working with talented professionals (artist, sculptor, caster etc.) to give also this part of the game the best possible treatment.
As we are still smack in the middle of developing this line, so we can share with you the wonderful progress of building a character from a sketch to 2D art to a full miniature.
Miniatures will be cast in metal. Just imagine playing one game after the other with these fantasy martial arts specialists.
In the development process of the tabletop game and many times during playtesting, the following became very clear:
"This game in particular will work very well on mobile devices"
Making Ortus digital is a logical step, but also a costly one. We don't just want to make a translation that works, we want to make a game that rocks! With challenging AI, gorgeous artwork and intuitive gameplay. And we're not just using sliding static pieces here, we'll animate every warrior for spectacular combat scenes. Another reason your support is needed and very much appreciated.
SPECIAL: Every backer pledging $ 38,- and up, can add the digital version only $ 1,- A special offer as a thanks from us. Now you can satisfy your hunger for a game at any time you wish.
You as a Kickstarter hero can show off your support for Ortus in an easy but awesome way. Right-click an image, save it, and proudly use it as an Avatar! Thank you in advance.
Risks and challenges
With a project of this size, there are many many variables. This means that despite our best efforts, something might go whoopsie that’s out of our control.
Ortus Arena (the iOS and Android version) is nicely on schedule at the time of this writing, It looks like you’ll be able to play in January. Any addition that would make the game more grandiose will be added in later patches. If there are any unforeseen hurdles however, the release date might suffer. In that case we will keep you posted on what has happened and how we’ll fix it.
The tabletop game will be produced by Ludofact Germany. One of the best respected production companies in the world. We have great contact with them and should there be any bumps in the road, I’m confident they will be dealth with as professionaly as possible.
The delivery dates are a calculated estimation, but still an estimation though. Stuff can happen. If it does happen, I’ll keep you informed. You give me your patience, I’ll give you all the info I’ll get.
I thank you for your trust.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
