The $90,000 (minus commissions) represents the money we still need to produce all the missing molds for the carbon fiber parts and start the mass production of the frameset and components.
What is presented here below represents the latest development of the FABIKE, basically what will go to mass production.
The FABIKE project is the work of more than two years, involving a lot of designing, engineering, prototype making, testing and many sleepless nights. In one word: passion!
Only with a FABIKE you will be able to have three bicycles in one.
We took the best from a fixed gear bike, a road bike, and a city bike and we put them together to obtain a bicycle with a wider range of usage. No matter if your city is flat or hilly, no matter if your road is smooth or rough, no matter if you feel like riding aggressively or leisurely, the FABIKE will always be able to adjust according to your wishes, needs or mood.
Think of FABIKE as an uncompromising way to change the ride.

A NEW WAY TO THINK OF A BICYCLE
The FABIKE is a combination of many innovations. Thanks to revolutionary design and the most sophisticated materials, you will be able to have a previously unknown riding experience.
You can convert the FABIKE in the following versions:
- BRAKELESS: This configuration will have no brakes and no gears. It will come with a flip-flop rear wheel.
- ONE BRAKE: This configuration will have the front brake only and no gears. It will come with a flip-flop rear wheel.
- TWO BRAKES: This configuration will have front and rear brakes, no gears. It will come with a flip-flop rear wheel.
- TWO BRAKES + GEARS: This configuration will have front and rear brakes, and it will come with a rear road wheel with a SRAM 11-32 10 speed cassette and a SRAM Rival rear derailleur.
Anyway, no matter what configuration you will initially choose, the FABIKE will be able any time to become the bike you need.
This means that FABIKE is in fact three bicycles in one:
- Fixed/single speed
- 10-gear road bike
- Off road/4 seasons thanks to the possibility to use up to a 700×35 tire.
A key characteristic of the FABIKE is the extremely reduced weight:
- 5.4 Kg/11.9 pounds for the BRAKELESS configuration
- 5.6 Kg/12.3 pounds for the ONE BRAKE configuration
- 5.9 Kg/13.0 pounds for the TWO BRAKES configuration
- 6.4 Kg/14.1 pounds for the TWO BRAKES + GEARS configuration
LIGHT WEIGHT, LIGHT LOOK
The FABIKE design is characterized by an extremely minimalist approach, devoid of unnecessary elements, creates the visual effect of lightness.
The painting scheme of the frame consist of the colored inside part of the fork, and the inside part of the chain stay/seat stay, according to your choice: red, yellow, green, blue and violet. The finishing consists of a matt coating on the entire surface of the frame, plus three clear glossy logos placed underneath the diagonal tube, above the horizontal tube and behind the vertical tube.
The color you choose will also affect the colour of the sliding dropouts, the three-dimensional logo on the head tube, the headset, the seat clamp, the nipples, the bolts on the crankset and the bolts on the hubs.
The complete FABIKE will come with two Continental Grand Prix 4000 tires.

AN INNOVATIVE FRAME
The FABIKE frame has been developed to be the best compromise between race bike and track bike geometry. Plus, it introduces the possibility to choose from a much wider range of tire sizes than any previous race or track bike.
- Compact: delivering great agility and responsiveness.
- Comfortable: allowing long rides in and out of the city.
- Robust and with high-positioned pedals: ensuring greater safety during urban and off-road rides.
The FABIKE frame will be available with internal cable routing, a BB30 bottom bracket and a semi-integrated seat post.
It will come in five sizes: XS S M L XL

The FABIKE frame will be produced with a monocoque technology using a mix of Toray T800 and T1000 carbon fiber, ensuring stiffness and extremely light weight at the same time.
For reference, the frame in size M will weight 1.10 Kg/2.4 pounds, while the weight of the frameset (frame, fork, headset and seatclamp) will be 1.55 Kg/3.4 pounds.
GROUND BRAKING DROPOUTS
The dropouts are the core of the FABIKE frame.
They have been designed in a way never seen before. This great innovation means that you will be able to change the dropout spacing from 120 mm to 130 mm (both with or without derailleur hanger) in order to mount different kinds of hubs onto the frame. But, this is not all. The FABIKE dropouts have vertical insertion. This means that you will be able to mount the rear wheel as easily as on a road frame without the need for a chain tensioner, as the two dropouts will be able to slide horizontally obtaining optimal chain tensioning. Additionally, the sliding factor is regulated by a high-precision micro-adjustment integrated inside the frame.
This is of course the best solution if you want to use the bike as a single speed/fixed gear bicycle, but it does not prevent you from equipping it with a cassette and derailleur if you wish to have more gears.
The dropouts will be produced using CNC machinery, out of 7075 aluminum alloy (ergal) and titanium locking bolts.
In order to create the most functional, coherent, comfortable and adjustable bike possible, we have designed several components that will be found exclusively on the FABIKE.
The crankset has been designed for a single chainring that will be fitted for both a road and a track chain.
The main features are: BB30 technology, adjustable chain ring chainline 42 mm/43.5 mm, cranks lengths available in 165 mm, 170 mm and 175 mm. Chain ring 46T. Anodized black with customizable locking bolts color: red, yellow, green, blue, violet.
The FABIKE crankset will be made out of 7075 aluminium alloy (ergal) and will set the scales down at only 650 gr/1.43 pounds chain ring, spindle and bolts included.
The FABIKE hub has been designed to be an innovative fixed/free wheel flip-flop hub. The improvement lays in the fact that the freewheel side features an internal freewheel. It means that both on the fixed and the freewheel side you will be able to use the same cog with a Shimano spline. This will save you a lot of weight and will allow for a greater handiness.
Available with white shell and customizable locking bolts color: red, yellow, green, blue, violet.
The hub will be made out of the 7075 aluminium alloy (ergal) and will weight only 280 gr/9.9 onces.
The FABIKE wheelset are available both in fixed/single speed and 10 speed cassette version. They feature special rims, specificly designed to be comfortably fitted with range of tires from the regular 700x23 road tyre to the 700x35 city/cyclocross tyre, and ensure the maximum vibration absorbing and comfort.
They will have 24 radial spokes in the front wheel, 32 spokes with two crosses in rear wheel. Available only in clincher version, black rims and personalizable nipples and skewer/bolts color: red, yellow, green, blue, violet.
The two wheels in fixed/single speed version will weight 1480 gr/3.26 pounds, the 10 speed cassette version will weight 1440 gr/3.17 pounds.
The FABIKE brake levers have been designed to the extreme minimalist fashion, ergonomic and able to be fitted with any kind of cable head.
They will be produced out of the 6110 aluminium alloy and will weight only 35 gr/1.2 onces per lever.
The FABIKE bullhorn handlebar is the best solution for an urban cyclist. Its ergonomical design combines compactness, comfort and the possibility to optimally fit the brake levers (thank to the 15/17 cm width central part) and an aero gear shifter thank to the internal cable routing.
The handlebar will be made using high quality carbon fiber composites. There will be two available sizes: 420 mm and 440 mm. Weight will be about 180 gr/6.3 onces.
The FABIKE saddle is a high performance saddle with carbon fiber rail and micreotex cover. Its minimalist design is available only in white. It weights just 170 gr/6 onces.
brakes are optimally designed to fit with the FABIKE fork and chainstay. In
fact, they have a longer reach (58-73 mm front, 42-59 mm rear) than the normal road brakes, so you can be sure
they will be able to work properly on the rims.
They will be placed behind the fork and under the bottom bracket area.
The FABIKE brakes are made out of aluminium alloy 6110 and they are available only in anodized black. They weight 320 gr/11.3 onces per pair.
The FABIKE stem is a super light-weight stem made out of aluminium alloy 7075 (regal).
Available only in white color, 84° angle and 90 mm or 100 mm leangth. The weight is starting from 100 gr/3.5 onces.
The FABIKE seatpost has been designed as a semi-integrated seatpost that perfectly fits on the vertical tube of the FABIKE frame. It is made of high quality carbon fibers and black anodized aluminium alloy.
It has the diameter of 31.6 mm and measures 150 mm in leangth. The weight is about 120 gr/4.2 onces.
In case you wish to use the FABIKE frame not with a BB30 crankset but with a 24 mm spindle crankset you can use the bottom bracket adaptors. Available only in black. The weight is about 80 gr/2.8 onces.

Risks and challenges
From the design point of view, the work has already been done for a while now. Thanks to Fabio's experience in this field, we feel very confident with the design. Fabio started his career in the design Industry in 2001 and since then, he has gained experience working for important international brands such as Fiat, Renault, Citibank, Vodafone.
From the engineering point of view, we have been collaborating with the studio Exemplar (www.exemplar.com) in Torino, Italy. They have a great expertise and experience in engineering carbon fiber for the automotive and aerospace industry. Hence, we feel confident and expect our collaboration to maintain the highest standards of the industry.
To ensure a smooth and well-organized process, we had contacted, visited and tested all the suppliers necessary for the mass production of all parts. To speed up the process, we have already started a pre production of the components. However, before the mass production starts, we are planning yet another round of testing in the factories of each supplier in order to install confidence in quality control. We have managed to reduce the number of suppliers of the carbon parts and components to only four, but we might need to find alternatives in case that one or more of these suppliers will not deliver the required quality or maintan the timing.
We have planned and agreed all the timings with our suppliers, including the tests to obtain the EN-14781 road bike standards certifications, but since we are dependent on the third parties at this stage it is possible to guarantee only that every effort will be made in order to make sure that the timing will be respected.
The final assembling and the painting of the FABIKE will take place in Italy. We have found the suitable working space, discussed the collaboration with the mechanics and a airbrush experts, and made a list of all the tools and equipment needed for the assembling and painting, where meeting the highest environmental standards was our priority. However, depending on how much money we will be able to collect during this month, we might decide not to invest in the expensive painting equipment and outsource the job instead.
After this phase we would be ready to deliver the FABIKE.
And we are already looking forward to it.
