If you are reading this then hopefully you are aware of this project's prequel (If not, I strongly suggest that you can check it out on Steam as this project description will be based on that and will contain spoilers. Don't worry, it's free).
Carpe Diem is a visual/kinetic novel project I did by myself to showcase my capabilities, and also my first baby step into the world of game development or, at the very least, story writing. It was an extremely short story so I was forced to present it to the public with little to no description at all, which became the biggest hurdle to overcome, especially on Steam Greenlight. It was a gamble, but I was very confident about what it had to offer. Thankfully, it got enough support that I was able to release it on Steam for free and it was well-received by the people, even the ones who aren't particularly big fans of visual novels. Currently, 90% of about 4000 reviews are positive.
Up until now, I keep receiving requests for a continuation, as it is really short. It took me a few months before I could come up with a great story for a sequel which is the sole reason for this campaign.
While the prequel was very successful, it still had a lot of shortcomings which I want to make up for in this sequel. The art, especially for the backgrounds were extremely lacking. The soundtracks were repetitive, and even annoying. The dialogues were dull, and the story was very short which did not leave enough room to develop the characters. These shortcomings are due to the limitations of my ability. Thus for the sequel, I have gathered a group of people who can help me produce a masterpiece much much better than the first.
For the length of the sequel, I am aiming around ~50k words (about 3~5 hours of gameplay). It will have three different endings depending on the sequence of your choices throughout the game.
I strongly believe Carpe Diem is one of the kind of stories best experienced when you know little about what's ahead. With this in mind, I will try to disclose as much information about the story as possible, but at the same time, minimal.
The last part of the prequel will be included in the sequel as a prologue. Carpe Diem revolved around Jung. There have been hints about what kind of person he is. Carpe Diem: Reboot will reveal a few more information about Jung but its main focus will be Ai and her own struggles.
What makes someone perfect? Experience this short bittersweet story in the shoes of the main character, Jung, where you will spend your time hanging out with a girl named Ai. Ai is everything Jung wishes for in a woman... except for one very important thing. A thing he prefers to disregard in order for them to have the best time of their lives. You have a day to enjoy your date and see the world from Jung's point-of-view.
Carpe Diem: Reboot
Jung's last date with Ai ended with a hard slap back to reality. Each day the two spend together is just one step closer to their inevitable fate. Ai doesn't have much time left. Even knowing this, Jung refuses to let her go and decides to stay by her side until the very end...Or at least that's what he planned. After receiving an unexpected letter from Ai about having to leave sooner than expected, Jung's life is turned upside down. Now, Jung must face a long road of loss and self-discovery as he attempts to reclaim the few pieces left of himself.

Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge after the Kickstarter campaign is getting through the Steam Greenlight. It is just as important as getting the funds. However, I am confident that there is enough people supporting this project for that. I'm sure getting greenlit would be my least concern if this campaign does turn out successful.
The next biggest challenge I may encounter is the source of assets. While I've already gathered a group of exceptional people to help me make this project as great as it can be, there is still the possibility that one or more member of the team may suddenly leave halfway. Finding a replacement will be challenging but it is not impossible. At worst, it may disrupt the budget and have an impact on the promised outcome of the project. However, I will do everything within my power to prevent this from happening.
The last challenge I may face is the time needed to complete this project. I expect it to be finished and launched by the end of this year, but there is way too many variables to take into account. There is no set date of release as of now but I will constantly be posting an update about the progress.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
