WE are SO CLOSE!! Thank you for visiting this page in the last days of our campaign! We are insanely overwhelmed with gratitude for all our supporters and we are starting to see movie lights at the end of the Kickstarter tunnel!
We have to make this goal to receive any of the pledges so, if you can help us get there (and to mix train metaphors), HOP ONBOARD!
Hello from Josh and Kristin! We are a filmmaking team (director Josh Crockett and actor Kristin Slaysman) fundraising for our first feature film, Dr. Brinks & Dr. Brinks.
About us: We are real-life partners coming up on our ten year anniversary and we've been collaborating artistically for almost as long.
Anyone who works with their partner knows that it's not always easy (let's grab drinks and we'll tell you about it!) but, for us, it's the most rewarding and exciting collaboration. It is our dream to shoot a feature film this year with our beloved filmmaking family. Josh has been developing the script for over a year with co-writer Jonathan Pappas. Now it's ready, the core team is in place, and we are asking YOU to help us make our dream come true!
We've been making independent short films together for almost a decade under the name Explosive Bolts. Until now, the work has been self-funded, but to make a feature film we need a lot more people and a lot more resources. That's where Kickstarter comes in. $50,000 is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM we need to make our dreams a reality.
And here's where you come in! If a lot of our friends (& strangers & co-workers & fans & family & neighbors & person on Facebook I met once and we don't remember each other but you happen to love movies... ) donate a little bit through Kickstarter, we can:
**feed people! **make our set safe and happy! **hire amazing actors and crew! **rent great equipment so our movie looks great! **edit and color and sound mix the movie! **pay people for their work (albeit less than they deserve)!
The way Kickstarter works, it's all or nothing so if we don't reach our goal, we don't keep any of the pledged donations!
WE NEED YOU. We are wildly appreciative that you are on this page and you are considering supporting our film.
AND we've created some very fun perks to thank you for your donation! --->
Here are the coconut monkeys we will be screen printing!!
What's the story?
It's about a brother and sister, Marcus and Michelle Brinks, estranged siblings who are reunited after the death of their parents, two globe-trotting aid workers who they barely knew. In the days following the wake, the siblings can’t help but turn their current lives and relationships into chaos as they’re forced to reckon with their shared past. And it's a comedy! A comedy about tragedy.
The movie is about pain, laughter, loss, sex, ego...it’s about the search for real family and the strong pull of roots.

Risks and challenges
Microbudget filmmaking is never easy, but our movie was written to be made on a small scale with a slim budget. We feel confident in the talent and resourcefulness of our team to see this project through and to create a really special movie.
