The DOTD Team

Support DOC OF THE DEAD on indieWIRE!

Thanks to our fans and supporters, we were way in the lead for the Project of the Month contest on indieWIRE just a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, our lead melted like snow in the sun, and we're now trailing, with less than 30 hours to go. So we need to rally our troops--YOU! :)

Please take a few seconds to vote, if you haven't already, and ask your friends to vote for us as well (all votes must be confirmed via the email you will receive from Polldaddy). This is very important, as the winner will score a meeting with the Tribeca Film Institute.

Let's win this thing!

Vote for DOC OF THE DEAD on indieWIRE!!

Dear DOC OF THE DEAD backers:

We're currently working around the clock on our best options to bring DOC OF THE DEAD to the screen, and you'll be the first to know about our new strategy.

In the meantime... we're now in the mix to become indieWIRE's Project of the Month! This is very important for us, as the winning project will get to meet with the Tribeca Film Institute. If you haven't voted yet, it only takes a few seconds. Click here:

Vote for DOC OF THE DEAD, check your email, confirm, and you're done!

We thank you for your support. Please continue to believe in our project!

With 8 hours to go, barring a miracle, it's painfully obvious that we're not going to reach our goal. While this is certainly disappointing, we first want you to know how much we appreciate your continued support and belief in our project. Please understand that this isn't our first film, nor is it our first setback. Making films is like a long series of disappointments on the road to completion and eventual success. So we feel it's particularly important for you to know that we ARE NOT giving up on this project; that we believe in it just as much as we did a month ago, when we reached $10K in just three days; and that this film WILL be made, one way or another. It's a special and important documentary, and when it hits the screens, you'll be proud to say you were among our original backers.

While we need a couple of days to regroup (and digest today's turkey meal), trust that we will give Kickstarter another try. Probably very soon. When we do, you will be notified. And we sincerely hope that you will pledge again, and continue to believe in DOC OF THE DEAD as much as we do. This is not the end. It's the beginning of a long and difficult journey. And even though this first campaign didn't quite work out as planned, we're extremely proud of the hard work we put into it, and we will rise to the new challenges that lie ahead. In fact, even if you choose not to pledge a second time, you will be thanked in the credits. That's how much your initial gesture of support means to us.

On this Thanksgiving Day, we're particularly grateful for all the love and support you've shown us, and for being lucid and resilient enough to look at setbacks as new opportunities.

More soon, dear friends...

3 DAYS TO GO, folks, and let's start with the good news... it's official, we're the indieWIRE Project of the Week! This means we get a digital distribution consultation with SnagFilms, and we'll soon be up for Project of the Month... so stay tuned, you'll soon have another chance to vote for your favorite zombie flick-in-the-making..!

We're now over 50% funded, and it's balls-to-the-walls, full steam ahead, do or die (and reanimate) for us; and with such a large and passionate horde of backers, we believe we can skin this cat (no RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD pun intended), but we can't do it without you. Look, if each and every one of you can convince a friend--just one friend!--to pledge at the same level, or if you can increase your pledge for a juicier reward, we're there! Yeah, we know... it's not quite that simple, of course... but with 3 days to go, it's all about team work. If we can't reach our $50K goal, it's back to square one, another grueling campaign, a substantial delay in our production schedule... you get the picture. Make no mistake about it: this movie is going to get made. But if we can reach our pledge goal by November 23rd, we'll be able to keep up our current production pace, which means we'll have a rough cut ready for Sundance/SXSW/Berlin by this time next year..!

One of the key questions we're going to ask in this film is: can a zombie-like pandemic actually happen..? Oh, you think we're joking..? Well, let's see what our good friend Matt Mogk (Head of the Zombie Research Society) has to say about this:

Freaked out yet..? That's the spirit! :) Mix in the fun you can expect from Simon Pegg, Jonathan London and Mr. Plinkett, the pop culture outrageousness of THE PEOPLE vs. GEORGE LUCAS, and the stylish post-production treatment that's become the signature of our partners at Milkhaus, and you can only begin to imagine what DOC OF THE DEAD promises to be like!

So let's do this, and give zombie culture the theatrical documentary that has far too long eluded it!
