The DFCO App is About To Debut on Mobile Devices

Posted by Fred Hicks / Evil Hat Productions (Creator)

The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game is coming to iOS and Android on January 7!

When it releases (which could have a lot of variance around that 24 hour period), you can find the mobile versions here — links won't work until the app shows up in these marketplaces:

The base price for the mobile version (priced according to how that market works) of the game is $6.99, with expansions at $3.99 (for Fan Favorites, Helping Hands, and Wardens Attack) and $2.99 (for Mouse & Variants).

As a reminder, Kickstarter backers receive all the expansions that were unlocked as part of the Kickstarter for free. You'll need to purchase the app on whatever platform(s) you wish to play on; your properly set up Hidden Achievement account can then be used to unlock the expansions at no added cost inside of the app.

You will need to use the code you got (or can retrieve, if your email account bounced the message) through BackerKit on the Hidden  Achievement website account service for the game to get those expansions unlocked.

(Why an account through Hidden Achievement? Because it'll let you unlock the expansions across all platforms, mobile and non-mobile.)

Here are the instructions on how to unlock the expansions in your Hidden Achievement account (if you didn't already do this):

  • Register an account at
  • Fill in your information: Pick an account name that you will used to log in from the game (different from any screen name you might use - this will not be visible to others), enter your full name, email address, and pick a password.
  • Check the confirmation boxes
  • Click on the “Register” button at the bottom of the form.

After you register, you will receive an automated email with a code to complete the registration. When that arrives, click the link in the email or enter the code on the web page and then log in to your account.

At this point, you can set up two-factor authentication for increased account security, either with an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or using email for your two-factor authentication.

You can then redeem your key from the “KEYS” tab on your profile.

Once your key is redeemed, you should see the list of entitlements on your account, like this:

Once you’ve installed the game on your mobile device, you can log in to the account you created by opening “Options” and then selecting to the “Network” tab and entering your account name and password, and then verifying your two-factor authentication code if you set one up.

If you run into any problems, contact for help. Evil Hat won't be able to help with app issues!

And as a final note: Wherever you choose to purchase the app, please leave a review. The Steam release of the game has been struggling in ratings mainly from a sub-section of reviewers who don't like the game play of the card game itself. (It's perfectly fine not to like the gameplay, but it's not really the app's fault, even if those reviews and ratings still affect both the app's visibility and the overall viability of the adaptation.) So if you're a fan of the card game's gameplay and enjoy the opportunity to play it in an electronic medium, your positive voice could really help the app (and the folks who've been pouring their efforts into it) succeed.

As always, thanks for your support!

Sonuva, I knew I forgot something!

I'm kinda addicted at this point. Review has already been submitted. I'm kind of glad that I played the app first. This has really prepared me for playing the physical version one day.

Barry, the game is available on Steam. To access go to:

      Install Steam.

Search the game and purchase and download from here:

I'm a bit of plank with mobile tech. can I download and play the game on a laptop?

    5. Hidden Achievement on

That’s $6.99 in USD. The price in other currencies will depend on Google’s exchange rate.

You said 6.99? Shows as 8.99 in app store (google).

Purchased, Played, and Proselytized. I’ve been getting everyone to play during lunch at work. It’s a hit! Thanks for all the hard work, and the best delivered Kickstarter project.

Matthew, send us email at - it'll be easier to solve that way than in the comments here.

I tried the buy button to see if it would figure it out but it would have happily taken more money if I hadn’t canceled.

    10. Matthew Petruzzelli on

It doesn’t show up on my list of purchased apps and still has a buy button

    11. Hidden Achievement on

Matthew - that absolutely shouldn't be the case. It's the same product for both iPhone and iPad.

    12. Matthew Petruzzelli on

iOS is making me buy it separately for iPhone and iPad. If I’d known that I wouldn’t have bought it from my phone.

You're under no obligation to buy the app. Your physical copy will continue to function well. This is for the folks who want the app.

    14. Sylvain Ethier on

Well if you want us to review the game on steam, make a deal because paying an additional 22$ on a game after that we spent 69$ (85$CAD) on the physical copy is asking a lot!

It can take anywhere up to a day for apps to become available on the various app stores when they're released. Apple uses midnight in the developer's home timezone as their default release time, which is still another 5 1/2 hours away as we're in US Central time. You should expect to see it show up worldwide after that time. How long it takes to appear after that will depend on the app store's deployment time.

    16. Jason Roseweir on

Seems the app isn’t available in the UK iOS App Store (just the US). Do you have a date when it will be released internationally?

Can't possibly mind that, JR. :)

    18. J.R. Riedel on

I already bought and reviewed it on steam, so I'm going to wait for a sale before grabbing it on android as well, hope you don't mind :P

    19. Ryan Brock

Thank you for the reminder. I was looking for my key.

Remember, if you didn't receive your codes (or forgot that you did) they're available as one of the downloads you can get through your Dresden Files BackerKit login -

The android version is available an "early release". :-)

Haven't tried it yet, but I can confirm I can purchase and download on my Samsung S*+.

You guys are totally sick. I will be tossing this onto the Kindle once it's out so I can take it wherever and have people ask what it is :D

I -finally- started playing on Steam and left a review over the weekend. Hope it helps! There are a lot of negative reviews for... not terrifically valid reasons.
