Have Sad Friends Who Missed the Kickstarter? Cheer Them Up With This Bespoke Preorder

9,000 of you will be getting your copies of the game months ahead of everyone else ... but for those who missed the Kickstarter, we've got the game up for preorder (along with the hotly-anticipated Dresden Files Accelerated RPG) on our webstore as of today!

If you don't mind, please spread the word around — we've still got approximately $200,000 in expected costs to cover that the Kickstarter funds didn't, so every bit of word-of-mouth you can put out there will really help us out, especially coming from such wonderfully supportive and informed folks as y'all. Feel free to wait until your copy arrives so you can speak from actual play experience, of course. :)

Shipping operations are spinning up (or already underway) across the globe. Australia's proximity to China (and the smaller scale of the shipping operation) means they're getting theirs first (a few backers Down Under report receiving their copies already), but we expect everyone will be seeing theirs over the course of the next month-ish, handily beating or landing on our shipping-date target zone of March 2017. Success!

Shipment tracking emails will depend on the practices of the fulfiller serving your area. Some Australian backers appear to have gotten emails from Aetherworks, and I think I've heard from folks receiving theirs out of UK-based GamesQuest who got shipping notifications. Canada's still working on getting the product up to their side of the border, but that's underway. The USA's shipments — by far the largest, with 6500 orders to ship — probably won't get tracking, at least not in a timely fashion, simply due to that volume. By the time we see the tracking codes I'm expecting their respective packages will already be delivered in the large majority of cases. :)

Everything's turning up Dresden — I'll drop back in when I have more substantial updates from the shippers to convey, but for now it's time for the sit & wait & eventually receive & open & play & squee game. I'm fond of the last few bits there. Hope you will be too.

Thanks as always for your support!

Yep, known issue. The duplicate divider that comes in the actual expansion has it corrected tho.

Here in NZ my copy's just arrived. Found a funny little misprint though. Apparently the Dead Beat case has 23 advantages according to the divider. Made me chuckle :D

It is not April, and we've said repeatedly that the shipping operation in the USA could extend into March, so no, you should not be concerned.

Should I be concerned? Im way down here in good old Florida, USA. Backerkit tells me "You're done! Your project creator locked down your shipping address, so your rewards are being prepared for shipment. Check the project updates for the latest information." Is there an ETA I can keep an eye out for?

Got my copy today. Should have arrived Saturday, but Royal Mail screwed up reading the postcode and tried to deliver it to another address across town.

Mine arrived, too, a lot earlier than estimated (UK). Looks good, superb art, high quality board and counters. Slight issue with the box: The corners/edges of the insert aren't square so cards bend. Wedging a foam pad top and bottom works, though.

Woohoo arrived this morning. Thanks to all at Evil Hat, Jim and Bob.

My game have arrived at the local post office in Sweden, but I'm not returning from vaccation until today.
      Good work with the shipping!

You shouldn't be concerned if you've been reading the other USA-focused updates. :) There, I've been talking about how shipping starts sometime in the next couple weeks and is expected to conclude within March.

You may also notice that the folks talking about receiving theirs are in Australia (closer to China, fulfilled faster) or Europe (served out of the UK, able to run through their shipments at a faster pace because there's fewer of them).

Should I be concerned? I live in the US, my Backerkit data seems to be in order, but I've gotten neither a game nor any tracking details indicating game shipment?

Wohoo... Got home today and found a pick-up-notice for something from gamesquest.co.uk.
I can't think of anything else I'm waiting for from them, so hopefully I'll bring this sweet baby home after work tomorrow. If so, this will be a glorious weekend. ^_^

And if anyone is curious: I live in Norway, and I've not gotten any tracking number or previous warning that this was on it's way.

Ahaaa, got it. Okay, that at least orients me for helping others who have similar confusion. Thank you!

That's fine, but the disconnect for me was the anatomy of the card and the description.
Almost everywhere else i he anatomy of a card is explained, then mechanics, then an example. This isn't done for the Showdown card.

    14. Fred Hicks / Evil Hat Productions 14-time creator
      Superbacker
      on

Players don't really take turns doing this, tho. The group reaches a consensus about which fate points will be spent on which cards and the order in which they want to try to resolve those cards. Whoever wants to roll the dice for that card, rolls the dice for that card.

    15. Anestis Kozakis
      Superbacker
      on

Oops, meant "Subtract the number of FATE points from the FATE pool, roll the number of dice indicated and add the total number of generate Clues/Hits together for the total. Add these to one card only that already has hit or token clues on it".

    16. Anestis Kozakis
      Superbacker
      on

The anatomy of the Showdown card is not explained. My confusion lay in "How does it actually work? What do those lines and numbers at the bottom mean?"

"Each player then takes a turn rolling for hits or clues. Consult the Showdown card to determine how many FATE points to spend and how many dice to roll. Each player has a number of choices, and each generates a different number of fixed and variable Clues or Hits.

Roll the number of dice indicated and add the total number of generate FATE Points together for the total. Add these to one card only that already has hit or token clues on it".

Once all players have had their turn, the game ends".

"Example: Harry's player decides to use the third line on STORM FRONT to spend 3 FATE points to roll 6 dice to generate clues. He rolls 3 pluses, two minuses and a blank. This generates total of 1 clue. He adds this to the initial 1 Clue value that is indicated on the third line, for a total of two Clues. He decides to put these on "Marcone is Involved" Invbestigation which already has three Clue tokens on it, for a total of five Clues."

    17. Fred Hicks / Evil Hat Productions 14-time creator
      Superbacker
      on

"Players only get to roll once for each legal target, and should decide together how to spend their remaining Fate points on each die roll. If the roll is a positive number, add that number of Hits or Clues to the card." — I think that's the explanation you're referencing and I'm not sure I'd agree that it's vague, but I'm sorry to hear that was a point of confusion.

"Players only get to roll once for each legal target" also seems to be pretty clear, especially given "add that number of Hits or Clues to the card" as the concluding action for the described roll... It doesn't say "distribute that number of Hits or Clues to as many cards as you want to" after all.

    18. Anestis Kozakis
      Superbacker
      on

The explanation for when a Showdown is triggered is fine. But what happens during a Showdown is vague. The How to Video explained that everyone then gets to spend fate and roll to generate either hits or clues as per the Showdown card. That's not explained in the Rulebook (or if it is it's very vague).
Also, the question of "Do the hits/clues from a player's only get put on a single card, or can they be distributed to different cards?" rose up. i.e. If it says "2 + 3 Dice" and I roll an additional 2 Hits, for example, for a total of four hits. Do those four hits have to go on the one card, or can I place them on separate cards (1 on one card to defeat it, for example, and remaining 3 on another?).

And yes, I am aware that you can only put them on cards that have already got at least 1 token on them. That part is clear.

Not really sure what the disconnect is on the Showdown phase as described on page 13. I just read it over again and it seems to have all the particulars surrounded. Can you be more specific?

Got mine a couple of days ago. Played our first game last night.
Short but lots of fun. Harry, Karrin, Susan, Michael, and Billy & Georgia vs Storm Front. We won by the skin of our teeth,. as Harry and his friends always do.
The Showdown part in the rulebook is a bit lacking in how it works and what you need to do. Much better explained in the How to Play video.
Maybe in the next version of the Rulebook flesh out the Showdown section.

@Ryan - Ra and Mouse/variants were met stretch goals that go to each backer, but Wardens, Helping, and Favorites were all optiional add-on expansions that were available to backers, but the base-level tiers did not get them automatically.

Ra and Mouse are the free bits that everyone who ordered a copy of the core game will get.

Wardens Attack, Helping Hands, and Fan Favorites are you-must-pay-for-them add-ons, which was either covered by a $69+ pledge level, or was added on and paid for by the backer after the fact in BackerKit.
