This Kickstarter Is Going Ape!

Posted by Fred Hicks / Evil Hat Productions (Creator)

Friends, in just two weeks, this Kickstarter has blown past every expectation. With your combined power, you've blasted through every goal we've set out for you, bringing us past $20,000 -- over 400% funding. We’re already on track to be the fifth most-funded fiction project on Kickstarter. Aces!

Now that we've busted the $20,000 goal, everyone from $10 on up will get all the e-books funded so far: the full Dinocalypse trilogy by Chuck Wendig, the Benjamin Hu novel by Brian Clevinger, and the Amelia Stone novel by C. E. Murphy. We've opened up FIVE FISTS and QUINTUPLE HAMMERS tiers, too, for the softcover and hardcover lovers in our midst. Not to mention we've also exceeded 600 backers in total, ensuring that we're building the kind of audience of fans we really wanted to with this project (and unlocking another wallpaper -- see below).

We never expected to get so far, so soon. And yet, we have. We still have the better part of three weeks left, folks. That's just unreal. But it also means we're not done with you yet!

New Stretch Goals!

When we announced the previous round of stretch goals, we teased, we hinted that there might be a new one focusing on a novel for an early-favorite character -- the academic, talking ape known as Professor Khan, featured in our launch-day sample chapter as well as today's new preview chapter

And if you thought that's what you'd be getting... you were wrong.

Because we're aiming to give you two Professor Khan novels, not one.

At $25,000, we will bring on acclaimed Twenty Palaces author Harry Connolly to take Professor Khan to Hollywood. He'll brush elbows with the glitterati of 1930's-era cinema while tracking down a mystery of high weirdness in the land of the silver screen. And, you know, King Kong was released in 1933... We're still working out a title here, but we're pretty sure the cover will involve a learned ape in a fedora walking the bright-lit streets of L.A., circa 1933.

At $30,000, we'll join forces with City of the Lost author Stephen Blackmoore to send Professor Khan to the red planet, in KHAN OF MARS. We're pretty sure that sentence alone tells you all you need to know, and if it doesn't make your toes curl in geeky glee... wait, who are we kidding, everybody’s in a state of toe-curl at the idea of our favorite ape on Mars. Right? Right?

New Tiers & Existing Tier Updates

As mentioned above, we've opened up the FIVE FISTS and QUINTUPLE HAMMERS tiers. If you're a softcover or hardcover fan and want all of these books shipped to you separately as they become available, those are the tiers for you.

Regardless, everyone contributing at $10 and up gets the e-books of all five novels.

Our FIELD AGENT tier includes hardcovers of the first four novels (The Dinocalypse trilogy and the Benjamin Hu novel); add $50 to your FIELD AGENT pledge to include C. E. Murphy's Amelia Stone novel as well.

EXQUISITE CORPSE, GUEST STAR, and MILLENNIAL will include all 5 hardcovers currently unlocked, no upcharge.

Wallpaper Unlocked

Since we've busted through the 600 backer mark, it's time to release another wallpaper! This one features location art from our upcoming Race to Adventure board game. Benjamin Hu comes upon Doctor Methuselah -- up to no good at Stonehenge!

As always, if you have any questions or requests for us, please let us know in the comments or by message. If you've got something on your mind, we want the chance to talk to you about it!

Come on 30k. I could only afford a small pledge, but I can still hope for 30k.

Stephen is pretty geeked about the possibility too: http://la-noir.blogspot.com/2012/04/khaaaaaaan-of-mars.html

My toes may never be the same again, that sounds so unreasonably cool. :D :D :D

I'm sure we could make that happen.

I would almost certainly go TRIPLE FIST if those fists could be Dinocalypse Now!, Benjamin Hu and Harry Connolly's Khan.

      Yay for Professor Khan!

Mmm, good point. I'll try to keep that in mind. Certainly doable by special request. It's just a question of the record-keeping.

More seriously - at different Fists levels, can we choose different books?

      Thanks!

Oh, something I forgot to add: folks looking for Young Adult friendly pulp should also consider backing the Doc Wilde kickstarter. I've read the first book and can't wait for my kids to be old enough to read 'em: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1310269043/the-astonishing-adventures-of-doc-wilde

Wow. I really hope it makes both of those new goals. The Khan of Mars especially sounds awesome.
