The $50,000 Stretch Set Doesn't Drink... Wine

TL;DR Summary: The $50k stretch goal is Vampire Dice, in a mix of red, purple, and so-dark-it's-black purple, all pearlized, based on backer feedback via last week's survey. See the picture for a rough digital mock-up. Explanations of finer details ensue.

Happy Tuesday, Fate Dice fanatics!

We're closing in on funding our first set of the Second Batch at $40,000 -- Valentine Dice! That has us looking forward, to the next stretch goal at $50,000.

To figure out what our best option, we looked to your feedback. Over 800 of you took our survey last week. We saw a few clear trends: more dark colors, more pearlized dice. We're still working out the kinks in our green-inflected set, so that had us looking to the other colors at the top. We've done plenty of blue, the leader by a mile, so that left us with other colors like red, purple, and black in the lead.

And thus, the set born of your feedback, in the dark of night: Vampire Dice!

Vampire Dice will be an all-pearlized set priced at $15. If you can fund us to $50,000, we'll make you this set with featuring bright red with black marking, royal purple with white marks, and a purple-tinted black die with white marks.

Going for a bright, "fresh blood" red on the red die will let us put black markings on the die without having to worry about contrast issues. We haven't pearlized purple yet, so our royal purple die should be just amazing. And the "black" die's color will actually be a very, very dark purple, using a color composed of a mixture of red, violet, and black inks, so when it's pearlized the color-swirls we should get will make a great fit for this theme and set it apart from the other black die in our Centurion set. (Our digital mock-up, below, was made with a single-color image tinting process, so while it's in the ballpark, we think the gorgeous reality of this set, if funded, will trump what we've been able to cobble together for you here.)

You've carried us this far, our wonderful children of the night. Now it's time to take to the skies and fly, fly, fly for the $50,000 stretch goal! Thank you all!

... okay, now we HAVE to hit $50k. These are just too awesome to let slip out of our reach!

      nice Dracula reference

OMG! Fred, you've outdone your usual brilliance! I am so hoping that this level gets funded! Already upped my pledge!

If I understand it correctly, that's only if you want both first round and second round dice and aren't willing to wait for the second round to be finished for the first round dice to ship out.

You could order the international pool party for $120, pick a mix of dice and have them ship out during the second shipping time and you should be fine.

      Love these Fred!!

    6. Dianne King on

Doh should read the pledge. We would need to purchase another $120 and get the second batch ones there

OK for the International Pool Party if we want from the second batch how much do we add for shipping?

We wanted a brighter red die that wouldn't throw in swirls that would compete with the black ink markings for readability. Go darker than we did, and we'd have to switch to a bright color for contrast -- and at that point, we'd have the burgundy die from the Centurion set, or damn close to it.

I love this set...but am I alone in thinking the red die would look better with darker flecks/swirls mixed into it.

Ahh, good. Unlike the Valentine's set, this one interests me greatly.

Damn you Fred! The only flying I'm seeing right now is my money out of my wallet. Such amazing looking dice.

      These are awesome. Want.

And I don't even like vampires.

It's a Second Batch set, and we were only asking about the Early Batch on the survey. And besides, it came about BECAUSE of the survey. :)

    14. William C Crawford on

This is the best set so far. This one should have been on the survey.

    15. Lee Jesse Steventon on

Kickstarter hates my phone, so I couldn't see all the pricing information while staring at the mockups. ;)

      Flawless math, Lee. :)

Ooh, love these color ideas and the mock-ups. Can't wait to see prototypes. >:D
This is a $15 second-batch set, yes? So if I want my first-batch set(s) to ship separately, I should increase my pledge by a total of $20 ($15 for this set, $5 for a second shipment)?

I have to admit: The black and purple dice are VERY lovely to look at.

      ooh! Like the colors!

    20. Don Roberts

Whew. I was worried for a second that you were going to announce Twilight's Fate. Love these colors, though. I think the Centurian dice just dropped off my list.
