Hello, Fate Corps!
The big-news, single-sentence update today is simply this: We've sent the files for Fate Core over to the printer. (So get in your address corrections now, if you haven't!)
This version of Fate Core is going to be amazing. With your funding we were able to get gobs of incredible art from our Fate Core artist, Kurt Komoda. We've been through four revision and/or proofreading passes since the first draft we shared with you in December.
And signs are really good: the communities we're plugged into are having a blast with the game, and all indications point to folks really "getting" the material. Last week's proofreading pass did uncover a few typos and one or two areas for tweaking the clarification of the rules. While no book goes to press perfect, Fate Core will be more perfect than others -- thanks to all of you!
We also got some great news over the weekend about Fate Accelerated Edition (FAE). Our artist is done ahead of schedule! This improves the chances we'll be able to get FAE out at nearly the same time as Fate Core (Fate Core will take a few extra weeks to print and ship, but it has a head start), which is our ideal public launch scenario.
All this means that soon we'll be able to start the work on converting Fate Core and Fate Accelerated into mobi and epub formats, as well as into system reference document (SRD) forms for release under the Open Gaming License (OGL) and Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY). We hope to release those close to the official publication dates for print and PDF format in July, but the work could take longer than that window allows. We'll only know for sure by getting the work done!
So what's where we're at this week! Please do come join us over on the Fate Dice Kickstarter if you're so inclined, and to tide you over to our next update, we'll leave you here with a preview of some of Claudia Cangini's excellent art for Fate Accelerated. Onward!
