Hey there, backers! We are ecstatic that we are able to confirm that manufacturing of Everykey will take place in less than two weeks! We would like to share some of our progress on the two major components to building the final product: circuit board manufacturing and injection molding. We would also like to highlight the progress we’ve made on our user interface design.

Production Circuit Boards

In our November update we mentioned that a polarity issue prevented the boards from charging and that our electrical engineering partner had already developed a solution. We are happy to say that we’ve run the new board design on the production line and everything works great! All software was loaded successfully and no manufacturing issues were observed. We have cleared a huge milestone as we now have a completely finalized board that can be effectively manufactured in mass quantities.

Injection Molded Samples

In our previous manufacturing update we mentioned that our injection molding tools were already producing samples. We are now pleased to share that last week we received additional samples from our Everykey Band Accessory tooling that are close to perfect! Currently we are working closely with the molding company to ensure a quality surface finish and good clasp fit.

The video below shows you a short clip of our injection molding process. Each half of the tool is loaded into an injection molding press which then clamps the two halves together. Molten plastic is then forced into the cavity created by the two halves of the tool. The plastic sits inside the cavity for a short time until it has cooled and then the part is ejected and the process begins again. The color on each wristband is produced from a label that is placed inside the mold before each cycle. When the molten plastic enters the cavity it adheres to the colored label.

Mobile User Interface

We are applying the finishing touches on our user interface for mobile devices. Most of the design is completed and implemented and we are now conducting A/B testing to find optimal fonts and layouts. We’ve been meticulous in our approach in an effort to bring you an exceptional user experience. We have designed a clean, minimalistic look that allows for easy access to information and highly visible navigation buttons. Take a look at some screens from our Android app!

Current Timeline

We are currently awaiting the delivery of several small packaging and accessory components that we will include in the final packaged product. We are now looking at a December 14th manufacturing date with shipping to follow. We are focusing all of our energy on shipping the product before the holidays. We are tremendously excited to share Everykey with all of you. We appreciate all of the continued support and patience!
