Risks and challenges
Making any video game is hard, many developers have come before and failed to be commercially successful or even launch. This is true, and there are no guarantees, but we took a simplistic approach to EverFeud. Like a MOBA there is no extensive world, or endless NPCs to create which can drive up the cost of development significantly.
Another driver of cost is waste created by bloated company structures.
PSB uses a stream lined process with Developers working remotely until the final development stages reducing unnecessary cost.
Having good communication is key when having the team spread out this way and at times can be challenging.
EverFeud may not be a huge undertaking but in no way is it a simple task. The money raised from this campaign will be used to fund the remaining development costs which includes adding additional team members to complete this project.
The allocation of funds from this campaign is as follows.
Additional Programming $55,000
Character models and animations $20,000
Improved Environment $24,000
Misc. 3D assets $8,000
Brian Young has put over $100K of his own into this project, while at the same time will not use any of the money raised from this Kickstarter to fund any part of his salary, perks, benefits, etc. He has more skin in the game than anyone, and will not stop until EverFeud is a reality.
