Witches have been in the world before many other magic users. The magic they wield is old, ritualistic, and powerful. They don’t have to rely on gods, pacts, or untold years of study as their power comes from the hidden knowledge of the world. This knowledge once thought to be lost, is being shared once again by Otherworldly beings who feel drawn to a certain few individuals. Those who form a companionship with these beings, start down the long road of the Witch.
Not all survive the early stages of this path as the structured magical orders of the world see witches as a threat. With their Sacred Secrets, each witch has access to powerful knowledge that only they know and that others want. Because of this, far too many witches have been hunted down, persecuted, and interrogated for what they know. Most witches have survived by hiding and pretending to be druids, warlocks, or wizards but with the turning of the age a record number of new witches are coming into their power and refuse to be hunted in the dark.
What's in the Book?
Hidden Oddities: A Witch’s Primer contains 100+ pages of new game material and world-building content for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons. In this book you’ll find the brand new Witch Class, 11 new Archetypes called Sacred Secrets, 2 new backgrounds, 100+ new spells, new items that any spellcaster could benefit from, and advice how to place witches into your world. This supplement is designed to work inside the system and to expand the options for Dungeon Masters and Players.
The Witch is a full caster without spell slots and instead uses Curios as minor magical items that can be filled with either spell slots or wondrous effects. These Curios can be kept all to the Witch or be handed out to party members to help increase their effectiveness. Improved Ritual Casting lets you cast any spell inside your spellbook as long as you have enough time and people to perform a Greater Ritual. Instead of preparing spells after every long rest you get to choose which Curios to recharge after any rest,
The content itself is built around the concepts of making a Grim and Strange world. The spells that are currently in the book help expand spell selection options for Arcane and Divine spellcasters alike.
I Have Questions...
Please, ask away, no question is a bad question in regards to this. I have answered a few questions out of the gate below.
The goal seems very low for 70+ pages of content, who's not being paid?
The reason I am able to keep the dollar amount so low and still bring this project to life is that I am doing everything myself. I am the sole writer, layout designer, editor, and I'm making the art for the book. I'm not a professional artist and so I'm putting a few of my early sketches in this description to give everyone an honest look at the style and quality of the assets. I'm including a stretch goal to hire on an artist and an editor but I want to make sure that I can pay them fairly first.
I don't know if I want to fund just an idea...
I can understand that, good for you though, it's practically already written. The current page count is just under 60 pages of super condensed formatting. With the backer content additions, including the needed legal mumbo jumbo, and putting in 20 pieces of art the rest of that page count will fill up quickly.
In fact, I've packaged early playtest material into a pdf to show that work has been done. None of the spells or lore are included, but the class and 2 sample archetypes are. Here is the link for that PDF Just download a copy

If it could be made easier to read, please, send me a message and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
Is it Balanced?
The short answer is yes, the longer answer is that the witch is a completely new class with brand new mechanics that no other class really uses. Additionally, the witch excels in some areas and not as much in others. Think of the Witch as Batman, with enough prep time, the witch can be an invaluable asset that makes the party utility wizard jealous, but, a witch without their prep time/allies is easy pickings by monsters.
They seem pretty team focused...
That they are, with needing multiple people for Improved Rituals, using allies reactions to empower their spells in combat, battlefield control focused spell choices, and the ability to create magic items to boost your allies, they are built to be team-players. Lone Wolf Witches are no where as efficient as a Witch with trusted allies nearby.
I don't know if I'll play the Witch, but I do like playing spellcasters...
Well, even though that the book is called A Witch's Primer it is filled with resources for other spellcasters. Just look below for how many new spells each class gets right out of the gate, once backer and stretch goals are factored in, these can only go up. In addition to spells, new equipment is available for both adventuring spellcasters, and those spellcasters who want to improve a homebase for their comfort and research.

Who Am I?
My name is Eva Brown and I've been playing Tabletop Games my entire life. Recently I've started taking the ideas that I've had and publishing content. This is my first full scale book but I already have several more in the works. Right now I'm in school full time, I work, and I am trying to fit creating content in between the cracks. You can find me on Twitter as @evaoddveig and I am constantly posting. I want to put more time into creating a help bring new and strange worlds to the masses.
Risks and challenges
The book is already written and the art-free .pdf layout is already complete. What is left is creating the art and editing which is what will be what happening during the Kickstarter campaign. This is my first Kickstarter so I wanted to keep things simple by having the printing and shipping down by DrivethruRPG, this means everything can be cheaper and can be shipped worldwide without huge costs. I plan on keeping the backers up to date on any delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
