DAVID KAMP / Music & Sound Design will be composing the sound:
Join me on an adventure into the unknown...
...into The Otherworldly.
The world may be a mysterious place, but this experimental video will make it more so as I embark on a journey that defies traditional notions of gravity, time and space while exploring the depths of the imagination.
The Otherworldly will continue a five year investigation of the ethereal, mystical, and wondrous aspects surrounding the creation of life, inevitability of death, and the faith in between. Not unlike life itself, the final outcome of this project is a mystery that will unfold with time: The Otherworldlyis not a preconceived, concrete project, complete with maps and story-boards. Rather, it is an intuitive exploration into the unknown.
I cannot venture into The Otherworldly alone. I need you. Making a film requires heaps of resources, people and collaboration. Lighting, cameras, tripods, set construction, costumes, stunt people... shaving cream, q-tips, milk, and many gallons of white paint: these are the things I anticipate needing for this project. I have set up an array of entry points and rewards for those who are interested in supporting The Otherworldly.
A recent project with Otterbox that explains my work:
Below is a sampling of previous video projects:
$8,000 is a modest goal to fund this video project, but If we do not meet this goal, your credit card will not be charged and The Otherworldly will not receive any funds from Kickstarter. But not to worry, because 95% of the things we worry about never actually happen. Truth be told, I hope to double this goal, and believe we will.
Here is how:
As a visual artist I have a problem to solve: in this case, bare backs and empty walls. I am giving screen-printed t-shirts and original artwork away to those willing to contribute to The Otherworldly. Below are examples of the original artwork that will arrive at your doorstep:
Below is a visual breakdown of pledges and associated rewards:
Thank you for supporting The Otherworldly.
Among the best methods of supporting this project is to tell your friends and family by "liking" on Facebook and emailing links to this page. Sharing with the people in your life is the most valuable gift you can give and it costs nothing. How wonderful!

Risks and challenges
The challenges with producing a video fall into three categories: Lots of work, time, and resources. Post-production of "The Otherworldly" will be the most challenging, I will do much of the compositing in Adobe After Effects, where the visual phenomena will come alive. I will frequently be using a green-screen, implementing continuous loops, time lapse photography and stop-motion animations. A typical 8-hour day of stop-motion animating will produce less than 15 seconds of video footage. I will also need to create all the materials, objects, and creatures that will be in front of the camera; this means lots of preparation before a shot can even begin. Despite the challenges, the final product will be rewarding and will minimize the hardships... this will be so fun!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
