Hi, I'm Jason Mattingly and I’m the creator and writer of a new comic book called Gamers vs Zombies and we need your help producing and publishing Issue #0 which will contain over 24 color pages of full gamer/zombie excitement!
I've been developing the world of GvsZ for over 3 years now, and words cannot express how excited I am to see this story finally come to life and become available for others to experience.
I'm the Editor-in-Chief for Eureka! Comic Labs based in Louisville, KY. Kevlen Goodner and I decided to form this company a few years past and it's been a dream come true! As a writer, I hope you all will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. And lets face it, the artwork is pretty damn cool too!
ABOUT THE STORY
Gamers vs Zombies deals mostly with, you guessed it...Gamers fighting Zombies! And though there's a lot of action and humor and zombies...this series does have a larger theme, and that's: how does a group of kids survive the zombie apocalypse while they struggle with the everyday issues of just trying to grow up?
But as luck would have it, the skills they've developed while playing video games actually end up saving their lives! Turns out it wasn't algebra...
Each character represents a core genre of gaming and with these combined abilities they are able to overcome some major hurdles.
There's Liam, the class clown and the thrill seeker. He represents Adventure.
Anna Maria. She has the fiery temper and goes looking for a fight. She presents the Shooter genre.
There's Billie, who loves playing sports both real and video game. His genre is Simulation.
Then there's Rebekka. She doesn't talk much but there is a lot going on upstairs. She represents Strategy, but most of the time she's using her talents to find a way of escape.
Grace is the self-appointed leader of the group. She represents Action. She doesn't go looking for a fight, but she won't back down either. One of her best talents is thinking under pressure, though the challenge is making her understand that her way is not always the best one.
And then there's Claire. She's sweet and innocent and a maybe just a little coo coo. Claire represents the Puzzle genre. One thing she loves to do is invent new way of taking out zombies. Too bad they don't always work as she hopes they would.
Last but not least is Noah. Noah represents Role-Playing and has prided himself on being the self-proclaimed foremost authority in zombie survival. This talent is surely the best to have, if it weren't for his clumsiness and his genuine desire to run in the opposite direction.
But for what it's worth, they do the best they can with what they have. And throughout the series you'll be able to catch glimpses into their past and see just what kind of kids they were before all hell broke loose and were forced to grow up.
We are so lucky to have such a talented crew on board for this project with artist Stefano Cardoselli and colorist Craig Gilliland!
Stefano, a Tuscan born artist, has been creating comics since 2000 has worked on many projects with such publishers as Antarctic Press, Blue Water Comics, and has been published in Heavy Metal Magazine over 10 times!
Craig is a powerhouse, bringing an amazing pallet of color to each page he tackles. Craig has collaborated on many projects with Stefano over the years. Along with the many projects that Craig colors, he's also a gifted artist and storyteller.
Right now, we're about half-complete with the artwork for the book. It's become an assembly line these days but it's the most fun I've ever had! We're putting the estimated shipping date at December just to be safe, but at this pace, we should beat that by a landslide.
Though we are focused entirely on the production of comics, we understand that people love swag, so as we are able to meet our extended goals, we will be able to give away GvsZ merchandise! And the more extended goals we reach, the more you get!
(You must email a digital photo of yourself or loved one. Please make sure this photo is less than 1mb so our mail server doesn't reject it. Just use common sense when sending an appropriate photo to be drawn. When the time comes, we will send more details about the process)
The swag begins! Everyone at Level 4 or above is awarded an assortment of buttons, magnets, posters, and more. Level 7 and above will get even more!
Every printed comic is signed by creator/writer Jason Mattingly and artist Stefano Cardoselli!
Every printed comic now includes the signature from colorist Craig Gilliland!
Everyone at Level 4 or above gets a lapel pin and everyone from Level 7 and above gets a t-shirt!
Thank you all so much for your support! And even if you can't contribute a single dollar, help us by telling your friends and sharing our links on social media!
Risks and challenges
It's all reward and no risk! Seriously. Of course we want to succeed as it will only reinforce our commitment to what we love to do, and that's make comics. And we would love to reach our extended goals as that will allow us to give everyone a little more bang for their buck. Just know that we've taken a very long time to make sure that every dollar we ask for goes to the right place.
For us, the reward is endless. Having a completed comic in our hands and knowing all the hard work it took to get there is a feeling that can only be topped by a huge support of fans that want to share in that accomplishment...
Thanks again to everyone!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
