A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

ETV launched over three years ago in Alamogordo, NM, focused on the development of "Robotics for Humankind" in areas including precision agriculture, environmental management, and infrastructure inspection. Our goal is to design, produce, and safely integrate robotic solutions to address challenges being faced in everyday life.
The AGRowBot is the first robot in a family of ground and air platforms to support the small and medium-sized farmer, the backbone of rural communities across the United States. America's small farms are disappearing at an alarming rate, and it is having an adverse impact on our rural communities.
The AGRowBot has been in development since the Summer of 2016 and will address critical issues facing the small farmer such as the availability of labor and the cost of production. The AGRowBot will provide the farmer with real-time crop assessment to identify weeds, pests, disease, and nutrition requirements.
Because the assessment is at the plant level, fertilizers and pesticides can be applied only where needed, lowering the cost of the crop and minimizing the environmental impact. Additionally, plans can be constructed to direct farmhands to where weeds need to be removed.
We've formed a dedicated AGRowBot product team that works from our ETV HQ in Alamogordo, NM to design, manufacture, ship, and support the robots. The combination of the dedication of our internal R&D team (many of whom were originally ETV interns) and our experienced manufacturing and support team ensures the AGRowBot will meet customers needs now and in the future.
Software and Embedded Systems Team
Joey Cahill (system architecture and navigation), Alex Martinez (artificial intelligence and vision), and Jordan Michael (graphical user interface and farm planning tools) are graduates of New Mexico State University in Computer Science. They've been a part of ETV, first as interns, and now as the systems development team. Jordan Gonzalez is our newest software intern attending New Mexico State University.
Hardware and Production Team
Richard Kernohan, Carter Taylor, Daniel Contreras, and Sandoval Begay lead the hardware development and production operations team. Each has 10+ years of industry experience in hardware layout (mechanical and electrical) and design for production. They will be optimizing the platform electronics for size, weight, and power, and developing the production line to ensure a quality product is delivered.
Amanda Hudson will be leading the Kickstarter communications and AGRowBot marketing efforts. Amanda will ensure that Kickstarter supporters are regularly informed of the project's progress and maintain the development board for the AGRowBot community.

Risks and challenges
The AGRowBot has been in development since the Summer of 2016. Our team is developing brand new technology for vehicle communication, vision based plant identification, and autonomous navigation to create a cost-effective tool for the small and medium-sized farm.
We created detailed documentation for the software and the production of the AGRowBot. As with any new technology being developed, there are always unforeseen obstacles that will need to be overcome as the system integration process moves forward. However, our multi-disciplined team has the experience, drive, and perseverance to see it through.
While this is our first Kickstarter campaign, we have successfully completed robotics projects recently for clients such as the U.S. Department of Energy. The same project discipline and approach will be used for the AGRowBot.
Because of the importance of your support and continued confidence, this project will be 100% transparent with frequent and open communication with the backer community for technical updates. Forums will be established to discuss new project developments and allow quick and easy access to our engineers for questions, comments, and suggestions.
You will receive a video package of unseen "Behind The Scenes" footage from our promotional videos, docu-film footage of our build and design process for product finalization and launch, and a personal thanks from our team.
You will receive one AGRowBot Components Bundle that will allow you to deploy the critical function components into a chassis of your design/choosing. This bundle includes all electronics hardware, sensing modules, and code base for the platform, minus chassis and drive-train components (electric motors, ESCs, drive shafts, etc.). You will also receive access to controller app and development community.
You will receive one (1) complete unit with access to controller app and development community. Also includes AGRowBot Logo hat and t-shirt. Additionally, you will receive a short video that follows your unit through the build process, with a personalized thank you from the team.
You will receive everything mentioned above, plus mentor time with a classroom as they build and develop their own applications for the kit (Limited to 3 hours of direct mentorship, and unlimited response to questions and answers on hardware and software components).
You will have the opportunity to come work with our team for one afternoon as we build your AGRowBot unit. For a four hour period, you will be able to tour our production and design facility, have lunch with our team, and talk about the future of AGRowBot and ETV. Backer will be responsible for all travel expenses to our facility in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Additionally, you will receive one (1) complete unit with access to controller app and development community. Also includes AGRowBot Logo hat and t-shirt.
For this tier, our team will work with you on a custom-designed chassis for your very own AGRowBot unit. You will be able to discuss your chassis idea with our team, work within the bounds of production capabilities and component layout needs, and receive final product design before fabrication. With this tier, some additional charges might be leveraged based on complexity and scale of design, but any additional fees will be discussed with backers before production takes place. You will receive one (1) complete unit featuring your chassis. Also includes AGRowBot Logo hat and t-shirt and access to controller app and development community.
For this tier, you will receive one AGRowBot unit hand-delivered to your location (Continental U.S. only) by two members of our design/production team. Out team will spend an afternoon with you (4 hours on-site) to deploy your unit for the initial run and show you full operation of the AGRowBot. You will receive one (1) complete unit, AGRowBot Logo hat and t-shirt and access to controller app and development community.
