Our goal is to create the best possible resource on the internet for learning how to create 3D games. Unlike any other game development tutorial series out there, this tutorial series will teach how to create an entire, fully featured 3D adventure game completely from the ground up! Anyone will be able to follow along with this series and gain a solid grasp and understanding of coding, 3D modeling, textures, 3D animation, project managment, level design, game design, and many more aspects of video game creation! There are absolutely no required skills or knowledge to follow along with this series. This series will be teaching everything starting from the very basics. On top of all that, all the tools that will be used in this tutorial series is already free and available on both PC and Mac!
There are a lot of game development tutorials on the internet, but this one is unique. There has never been a tutorial series on the internet containing this much information and presented in such a high quality, organized series. This series will leave every viewer with an advanced understanding of nearly every aspect of video game creation!
We need your help! To create the Ultimate GameDev Tutorial series, our project needs funding. The project will take hundreds of hours of work to complete and will cost many expenses to take this tutorial series to the quality the internet deserves. Without this funding, we cannot create a tutorial series of the same caliper. We ask you to join us in this awesome project and a HUGE thank you for any part you contribute! This is the best time to start making games!

It’s not hard to find evidence in today’s gaming world that we are standing on the verge of an indie game revolution. Just this past decade, the tools available to the public have grown in both in affordability and technical advancement. Just the past few years, thousands of indie and hobbyist game developers have shared their knowledge, turning the internet into a resource for learning every aspect of game development, free to anyone around the globe. There has never been a better time to get into game development.
Why stop there? Let’s take it to the next level! There’s a lot of information scattered around the internet. Let’s put it all in one place. We are going to create an epic tutorial series teaching every aspect of game development from the ground up. This intense educational series will jumpstart anyone into becoming a well-rounded game developer.
Doesn't game design software cost thousands of dollars? All the knowledge and tools will be 100% free and available on both PC and Mac. First of all, what better place to upload a video than YouTube? So watching the tutorial videos will be free. And for the software, people can sometimes be under the impression that game development requires a special computer or expensive software. This is highly untrue. Any modern PC or Mac computer handle the graphic requirements of game development. In today’s age of the internet, many free creative software tools are available and have already proven themselves in the hands of many successful indie game developers. The software tools we will be using in this tutorial series are Unity, Blender, Gimp, Audacity, and RAIN AI. All free and available today.
But how do we make money? There will be a few paid digital products available that are really awesome, but not a requirement to complete the tutorial series. These paid extra products will be available for pre-order in the rewards section of this Kickstarter project. Some are Kickstarter exclusive, but the ones that will be available for purchase after the Kickstarter campaign are:
- Art Asset Pack - Learn by Coding and Assembling! Contains all the 2D and 3D art, animations, and sounds in a package bundle that can be imported right into Unity. If you’re only interested in learning programming, the Art Asset Pack will leave you free to focus all your time into the code, or create your very own game with awesome artwork and graphics!
- PDF Guidebook - Learn by Reading and Referencing! Breaks down tutorials step by step (with pictures!), Includes written copies of all the scripts, and contains definitions of all terminology used in the tutorial series, Save time sorting through videos, Very organized, Quickly reference any part of any and all tutorials!
- Finished Project Files - Learn by Taking Apart and Modifying! Contains both the PDF Guidebook and the Art Asset Pack already compound together into a finished Unity project,, Play the entire game right in the editor and modify it as you please, Ready to be imported directly into Unity!
Wait, you're saying the Ultimate GameDev Tutorials will teach how to make an ENTIRE GAME? Every tutorial will lead up to one finished product, Inbotrination! A 3D Adventure Platformer! And what better way to make sure it is a fully finished fun game than to release it for free for anyone to play! 2+ hours of fun, engaging gameplay. An adventure of climbing buildings and fighting robots! Most game developer’s first games are a clone of Pong. With these resources, your first game will be epic!
This project will be the ultimate beginner tutorial series for game development. From the ground up, starting from absolutely nothing, learn how to make your first video game. No previous experience or knowledge required. There are already a lot of tutorial out there, but this series will combine the two main aspects of video games in one series, artwork and programming, all in one place, all in one project, all uniformly and clearly explained. It’ll be going over game design, game dev software, programming, modeling, animating, texturing, technical art, everything. It’ll be a tutorial series that will leave all viewers with a HUGE head start in making games.

What kinds of games can you make with this software?
Check out this game, "Ant Simulator 2014", made using Unity, Blender, and Audacity. This game was created by Eric (ETeeski) from the ground up, art and code, in just 48 hours.
Unity - Becoming one of the most commonly used game engines for indie game developers, Unity is powerful yet easy to learn. We're going to be using the free basic version of Unity for these tutorials. The free version is still fully featured and ready to make games. I've been using it to make games for the past 4 year and I still haven't needed to upgrade.
What can Unity do? - Official Unity5 Feature Preview from Unity Channel
Blender - Not only is Blender one of the top competitors for best 3D modeling software, it's the best 100% free software! Some professionals prefer it to other expensive 3D modeling software.
What can Blender do? - Blender Demo 2013 Reel from the BlenderFoundation Channel
GIMP - Graphics Image Manipulation Program. Used by many indie game developers and Unity users, GIMP is a great free alternative to high end image editing softwares such as Photoshop.
Audacity - Free yet very functional and simple to use audio editing tool. Audacity gives excellent control over your audio, making it an excellent choice for game development.
RAIN - Very smart yet very customizable AI. RAIN, by RIVAL THEORY, is a free Unity plug-in that makes it easy to create and customize your own smart AI. RAIN works great for AI in almost all genres of video games.

You can chat in real time with Eric in the Twitch.tv chat box by signing into your Twitch account or Facebook account.
Livestream times (all times, timezone EST):
Working on the game Inbotrination - Tues @ 1pm, thurs @ 7pm, and Sat @ 3pm
"Show Your Work" Livestream:
May 17th at 4:00pm - Show Your Work is a livestream where you get to show off things that you've made to the audience of the livestream. Show Your work started when viewers of the livestream linked things they've made into the livestream chat box. This happened so much that we decided to make a livestream dedicated to it. Anyone can submit anything that you've made in video game development that you are proud of. Deadline for submissions is May 16th.
More Livestream Info: ETeeski.com/Livestreams
$4000 (Base Goal) - Inbotrination will be a free game with a gameplay length of at least an hour. It will be a feature complete 3D adventure. Along with the game, free video tutorials will be available on youtube, teaching every step to create the entire Inbotrination game. Follow along with the entire series using all free software tools available for both PC and Mac (Unity, Blender, Gimp, Audacity, RAIN AI).
$6000 - Game Features and Tutorial Expansion - Increase the game length and amount of content. More enemies, semi-open world level design, more powers, side quests, and up to 3 epic boss battles! And if this series is going to teach how to create the entire game, that means more tutorials too! With these additions would come a longer development time. Depending on the release date of Unity5, this extra development time may present us with the opportunity to revamp the project and teach the tutorial series using the new Unity5. If Unity5 takes longer than we expect to come out, the Unity5 tutorials will be added to the end of the series. Unity5 has been announced, but the actual release date hasn't.
$10,000 - Crash Course and Mobile Tutorial Series - One downfall of the Ultimate GameDev Tutorials is that the series will be somewhat of a lengthy endeavor. The Crash Course will serve two major purposes. Firstly, it will offer an alternative way to learn Unity by making a less complex game. Secondly it will be more of an arcade type game and will be designed to port very well over to phones and tablets. This will make the second half of the Crash Course Tutorials full mobile (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, phones and tablets) tutorial series. The mobile tutorial series will cover touch and tilt controls, mobile graphics and artwork, and basic deployment to the app stores.

“ETeeski’s core philosophy of blending both a tutorial series with a stand-alone game is inspiring. Equal parts a love-letter to a past era of gaming and rather apt futurist blue ocean seeker, Inbotrination represents something new swaddled in the clothes of something old.” – Robert Forehand, http://gameplaymagazine.com/inbotrination-preview/
“If you take a look at [ETeeski's] channel and see his past work, he does put a lot of time and a lot of effort into his tutorials to make sure they are the best and most helpful as he possibly can. This is by far one of the best indie platformers that I’ve played in a while.” –ChromeFXFilms aka Salokin Games, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNk7zod_AUg
“[ETeeski] is just doing this because he wants to do this and I think that’s awesome, fantastic, brilliant and golden in every way shape and form. I just can’t get over how freakin’ epic the idea is of making a game and then making a tutorial series on how to construct said game.” – Semiorph | Variety Gaming, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qec5-louKWQ

Eric Tereshinski, Director of Creative Development - created his first game in 2003, and has pursued a career in the field ever since. Most of Eric's knowledge of game development comes from experience in building tutorials for game development in Unity3D, as well as collaboration with other indie game developers. In 2011 he created the youtube channel ETeeskiTutorials, and has since established ETeeski LLC, a company dedicated to full-time game development. The name, ETeeski, is a combination handle of his first and last name.
Eric is the guy who is making the game and who is going to make the tutorials.
Devon Staley, Director of Operations - joined ETeeski in February, 2014 as Director of Operations. His main area of expertise deals with business strategy. Devon is a recent graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. His two majors of accounting and computer information science, combined with his years of experience in the technology industry, is a great blend for managing operations here at ETeeski.
Tyler Monce, Director of Finance - joined ETeeski in February, 2014 as Director of Finance. In this role, Tyler oversees all the financial planning, accounting, and performance measurement of the company. Prior to joining ETeeski, Tyler served in a variety of accounting and auditing roles in the banking, professional services, and pharmaceutical industries. He holds an undergraduate accounting degree from Michigan State University, and is an active member of numerous professional organizations.

Risks and challenges
Will the project get finished? You can be sure I will finish the project in one way or another. I have a playable alpha and have all the skills necessary, as demonstrated in previous games and tutorials I have made.
What about glitches and development obstacles? There will inevitably be glitches, bugs, and unforeseen hurdles in the development process of this game and the tutorials. As with every project I've made in the past, there are always problems. It can be difficult sometimes, but there is always a solution or a workaround to any problem.
What if the project gets delayed? Although that is a possibility, I've come up with time estimates that I think are pretty generous in my experience. I will be updating my progress every step of the way, so if I am facing challenges and/or delays, you'll know what it is and why.
Reward fulfilment? I have sold small online products in the past, but pre-orders and this large variety of rewards is new to me. I should be able to set up an email reward fulfilment system on my website with no problem. But if there are problems, I should be able to have the time to give personal attention to any and every inquiry via email. Plus, all of the rewards are digital, so supply and shipping is nothing to worry about.
What if Eric gets eaten by zombies? Well, first of all, I appreciate your concern for my well being. Secondly, there would also be a good chance that the zombies will have also invaded the Youtube headquarters. Without Youtube, I will have nowhere to upload the tutorials, not to mention that fact that I would also be presumably dead in this scenario. I think in the event of a zombie invasion, we're probably just going to have to cut our losses and take refuge in the nearest shopping mall.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
