Riddle me this:
What do you do when you have until Oct. 1 to raise $1600 for two fantastic charities, so that you can run the NYC Marathon, but at the same time you also have to: 1) Train for the marathon to avoid keeling over on the running course, 2) Finish three doll sculpts in order to have them ready for the holidays, and 3) Finish a silver jewelry line for open-see season... all basically by Oct. 1?
Obviously, Option 2 is the way to go. So! We are gathered here this month to: + See three doll heads take shape from rough to finished. + See a complete jewelry line take shape. AND + To support two charities, the NY chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Asha for Education (which supports educational programs for underprivileged kids in India). All of the proceeds from this project go to these charities. All in 30 days. Can you hear the clock ticking?
Pledge $1 or more because I'm your friend and/or I'm related to you and/or the suspense is killing you and you want to know how it all unfolds. Pledge a bit more for a (tasty?) piece of history. Pledge a bit more because having control of your basic senses is something you should be able to take for granted. (And because my longtime friend and fellow doll fan Mara should not have to deal with this at all.) Pledge a bit more because it's back to school season... and should be for all kids, no matter the peculiarities of their socioeconomic background.
And tell your friends about it. Watch some art get made. Watch the clock get beaten. Stake your claim on something pretty. And while doing so, do some good in the world.
