Essential Consultants is a new band of old friends. Our debut album-in-progress, Good You Say, Good Will Come is the culmination of our shared musical successes and defeats stretching back over the last twenty years. Our album is fully recorded and mixed, now we need your help to have it mastered and pressed to vinyl.
Here's a quick preview of what we've been working on.....
- Mitchell King - Drums (Beat The Devil, Ribs, DN'T)
- Ben Cecil - Bass (Multiples, Harbor Lights)
- Jason Frederick - Vocals (Spiveys, The Means, Ribs, Love Story In Blood Red, JWF)
- Joachim Kearns - Guitar (Million, Bob City, Harbor Lights, Ribs, Tigers and Monkeys, White Hassle)
When It Began....
Hi, I'm Joachim. In the Spring of 2017, after a long run of playing in other peoples projects and immersing myself in my own homespun recordings, I began Essential Consultants. The group was born out of a desire to return to playing in a band with a truly collaborative vision that could harness a big sound, play shows, make records, and most importantly, see what our collective years of creating music together, and apart, had made us capable of.
Nine of the ten songs on the resulting album-in-progress, Good You Say, Good Will Come were written by Ben, Mitchell and myself. Half way through this process, it became clear to us that while we were happy with the songs, we were significantly less enthused about the prospect of singing them. The voice we wanted to hear belonged to our favorite Cleveland transplant, Jason Frederick, so we called him and forced him to join us.
Armed with 2" tape and homemade Indian food (thank you, Liesl), we hit Brooklyn's South Slope's Seaside Lounge on June 2nd, 2018, our 10 songs in tow. Three days later the record was fully tracked. We were extremely lucky to be guided by recording master, Kris Poulin, who took time from his busy touring schedule and flew in from San Diego to get us in line. In addition to being an old friend and vet of many bands, Kris has worked on records for folks like Smog, Bonnie Prince Billy, and Royal Trux, among many others. We could not be happier with the sounds he delivered. Along this multi-track journey, Ebru Yildiz was also kind enough to stop by and snap many of the awesome pics adorning this page
Good You Say, Good Will Come will feature new artwork by visual artist extraordinaire, Sam Martineau. Sam has lent his signature blend of angular lines and explosive colors to previous music projects including the creation of hundreds of unique handmade one-of-a-kind mixed media 7" covers for records by Jason Frederick, Harbor Lights, Ribs, and Radical Dads.
For this go round, rather than creating individualized covers for each copy of Good You Say, Good Will Come, we've selected Sam's Reverse Demos 1 (pictured below) for the LP cover. The original painting will be included as a premium reward, as well as five other limited edition one-of-a-kind posters Sam created to celebrate Essential Consultants' debut release.
In addition to vinyl and download offerings of Good You Say, Good Will Come, we're super excited to offer bundles of previous releases featuring members of Essential Consultants. These bundles feature some of the very last copies available for many of these titles.
Along with a vinyl copy + download of the new album, Good You Say, Good Will Come, this bundle includes: Joachim Kearns solo LP, Poor Relations and Ribs/Harbor Lights Price is Right/A Red One split 7" featuring handmade custom artwork by Sam Martineau.
Along with a vinyl copy + download of the new album, Good You Say, Good Will Come, this bundle includes: Jason Wyatt Frederick solo LP, As Is (featuring art by Michael Hambouz) and Jason's Ohio/Build You Up 7" featuring handmade custom artwork by Sam Martineau.
Jason Deluxe Bundle
This bundle includes everything in the Jason bundle, but as an added bonus includes a CD copy of the Jason Frederick fronted, Love Story in Blood Red's seminal second album.
We're also very very psyched that Sam Martineau has created 5 limited edition handmade posters to commemorate Essential Consultants' debut release. See below for pics of individual posters, numbered 1-5.
We hope that you'll join us to help finish the record, but more than anything, we're just psyched to share the music with you. Thanks!
Risks and challenges
Due to a resurgence of interest in vinyl records, turnaround at most vinyl pressing plants we've contacted can vary from 1-4 months. If fully funded, we project being able to fulfill those rewards which include a vinyl copy of Good You Say, Good Will Come by February, 2019, however, timelines provided by pressing plants are be subject to change. We will do all we can to see that delivery of vinyl rewards is met by February, 2019, but we request your patience should there be any delays beyond our control.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
