Our team - Celina, Ryan, Lorenc, and Eduardo - has been dedicated to the ideation of ESLO for years, and have worked tirelessly over every detail to get to this point; our Kickstarter Campaign! However, we are but a new chapter in a grander story. To truly understand our passion and mission, we must venture fifty years into the past and introduce you to Ricardo Lopez, Eduardo's grandfather.
Ricardo Lopez was imbued with a respect and passion for footwear at a young age, and often recounts the story of the fateful incident that lead him down this path; One day, a young Ricardo overheard his parent's discussing his need for a new pair of shoes. Excited, Ricardo arrogantly threw his old pair away, believing they were now beneath him. The next morning, he walked into the kitchen fully dressed, but barefoot. When his mother questioned him, he told her what he had done, impatient for his new pair. To his surprise, his mother quickly chastised him for being so wasteful and ungrateful, and made him go to school barefoot. Ricardo never forgot this lesson, and used it as the inspiration for RILO Footwear, a children's shoe venture he started in 1965 in the small city of Jesus Maria, Mexico.
Jesus Maria was a small town in the highlands of Jalisco that had few inhabitants and even fewer job opportunities, which caused the majority of the men in the city to travel for work. Seeing this, Ricardo was inspired to build RILO into a company that could provide jobs and workplace equality for all. And so, he began by working with the local clergy. He advocated on behalf of the local women and mother's, who could just as easily provide for their families if given the opportunity. He achieved workplace equality for all in Jesus Maria, and with his community's help and the unrelenting support of his family, Ricardo began nurturing RILO into a employee focused, community driven, family-owned company that provided quality children's footwear to the masses.
After several decades and massive growth, the second generation of the Lopez family - Ricardo's daughter Celina and son Ricardo Jr. - began helping their patriarch lead RILO. Celina, especially, was able to use her natural business talent, motherly instincts, and love for her community to expand RILO further than they ever thought, creating a new product line of children's shoes named ACLO.
Now, thanks to their tireless dedication to crafting quality leather-made children's shoes, RILO and ACLO are household names throughout Mexico. The third generation of the Lopez family, our founding partner Eduardo, is striving to continue his families legacy, with the help of his partner's Lorenc and Ryan, by bringing his family's generational craft to you through our company, ESLO Shoes. With the help of the Kickstarter community, we seek to be the newest chapter in the story that Ricardo began so many years ago, by providing children across the country with a product that has been perfected over the decades.
Jesus Maria, Mexico, which is located just two hours west of Leon, the leather capital of the western hemisphere, is now a thriving city and one of the epicenters of footwear production in the country thanks to Ricardo and his family. Nestled in the region of Los Altos, one of the most striking features of Jesus Maria are it's fields of rich, blue Agave, which were the inspiration behind our companies color scheme. Also, the local population of wolves, fauna native to the highlands, provided us with a clear choice for our logo; a playful wolf pup. A unique tradition the city holds annually is a parade celebrating the previous year, and petitioning for blessing over the next year. Due to the incredible mark Ricardo and his family have left on the city, the parade actually starts at the family's factory and honors their impact on the community.
We will be providing six shoes and four boots, for a total of ten unique, trendy, and beautifully crafted pieces of footwear.
Our shoes will come in two classic styles - Wing Tip and Oxford. While our boots will be the modern Chukka style (but with the opportunity to unlock a brand new style at our stretch goal of 75K!).
1 - HIGH QUALITY LEATHER: Our leather shoes are crafted from genuine all natural leather sourced from Leon, Mexico; the leather capital of the western hemisphere.
2 - PLUSH LINING: The lining within our shoes and boots provide plush cushioning, giving your child maximum comfort.
3 - FOAM CUSHIONING: Our top-layer insole provides a shock absorbent bed of foam, making each step your child takes relaxed and agreeable.
4 - INSOLE: Our second-layer insole is made of soft but durable leather, which gives your child's foot, when pressed on our top insole, a cozy pad to rest on.
5 - HEEL SUPPORT: Our added heel support is the bedrock of each shoe and boot. It keeps everything sturdy and stable so your child's foot is supported in the best way possible.
6 - RUGGED OUTSOLE: Our uniquely textured outsole provides maximum traction on virtually any surface, making each step your child takes that much safer as they explore and grow.
7 - FLEXIBILITY: The forefront of each outsole has flexibility grooves cut into them. This allows the shoes or boots to bend with ease and avoid any material pinching against your child's foot.
8 - MOISTURE WICKING FABRIC: The front of our top layer insole is made out of moisture wicking material so that sweat is absorbed from the toes, reducing discomfort and smell.

Risks and challenges
Due to our established manufacturing, we can begin producing our shoes and boots as soon as the campaign ends. Once completed, delivery of the shoes will then be made to our fulfillment center in Los Angeles. From there, it will be shipped to you, the backer.
For a big project such as this, there are still many hurdles and challenges that can be thrown at us while trying to complete your orders; it could occur in our manufacturing process, transportation, fulfillment, or delivery.
However, our family has been doing this for generations, and knows how to handle just about any challenge that comes its way. If problems were to occur in any of these sectors, we will keep you updated every step of the way until your ESLO shoes or boots get to your door step.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
