This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sat, January 5 2019 10:49 PM UTC +00:00.
80,000+ miles, 300+ shows, countless surfed-couches, hundreds of hotel rooms, more coffee and coffee shops than you can shake a stick at, old setlists collecting dust in the far reaches of different venue's green rooms and stages, hundreds of wonderfully accommodating and insanely gracious people who opened their homes to us and treated us like family, and countless hours of writing and re-writing - is what has led up to this.
In the early winter of 2018, we set out on a journey with our good friend and producer/engineer, Andy Reed, to put some of this life experience down on record. We set out to create an album that would not only give these stories from the road a place to live, but also give people something to connect with through the sharing of very personal trials and tribulations. This EP is truly an insiders look at what our lives have been like over the last few years.
(Did you know, Give Me A Break was written after our RV broke down for the umpteenth time? See? Trials and tribulations, friends. We all have them.)
As the recording progressed we called on some wonderful musicians to aid in the process. Loren Kirker Kranz from the wonderful Barbarossa Brothers can be heard drumming on four of the tracks and Kosta Kapellas can be heard playing upright bass on all but one song. The recording process was stretched over the span of about 6 months time (because we're always on the road!) and was finally completed in the summer of 2018.
The budget for releasing the EP is based on paying people a living wage for their time and expertise. This includes the cost of creating an official music video, running a radio campaign, manufacturing of the EP, and other various expenses involved in releasing a record. Here's a quick breakdown:
Disc Manufacturing - $1100
Digital Distribution - $100
Music Video - $2000
Radio Promotion - $2500
Kickstarter Rewards & shipping - $2000
Kickstarter fee - 10% of goal (-$750)
Grand Total = $7500
**You'll notice this budget is lower than the grand total of all of the listed expenses. We really want to do this record justice and we know that we've never asked for your support before and therefore don't want to price ourselves out of any help! If we reach the goal and make above and beyond it to fully cover the costs of everything, we'll be elated. If we just reach the goal, we'll still be elated.
We have never been so proud of an album as we are of the Road Warrior EP. We feel that with each passing record, we get closer and closer to completely refining and honing in on what the Escaping Pavement sound is. And we also feel that with each passing record, the connection between us and the rest of our world grows stronger. And connection is something we truly believe in and can really get behind. We make music, to connect. It's the whole reason behind why we became musicians in the first place. Connection builds bridges between people and that in turn helps to make the world a better place.
By supporting this project you are not only supporting us, but you are helping the independent music community as a whole. When you support an artist directly, it helps them to continue creating in a sustainable way.
Thank you for your time, thank you for your support, thank you for listening and sharing, and thank you for connecting with us.

Risks and challenges
A kickstarter is a great (and somewhat frightening!) challenge due to its all-or-nothing format. Meaning, if we don't reach our fundraising goal by the end of the specified time, no money comes out of your bank accounts, and no rewards are sent out (nor made!). We've put in the ground work to carry out every specified detail of bringing this project to light, now all we need is the capital to do so. If the project is fully funded, we will continue with the planned release of Road Warrior in March of 2019.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
