Send who to what now?
But I'm A Cat Person is a webcomic about magical shapeshifting battle monsters, and the ordinary humans who don't have time for this nonsense when they're trying to do laundry.
Otakon is an anime/manga/J-fandom convention held every summer in Baltimore, MD. It's kind of like the Promised Land for the very people who spend money on things like BICP.
They're like chocolate and peanut butter, if the chocolate held up to 25,000 people and the peanut butter did drag on the weekends.
But Seriously, Though--
Seriously, Otakon is a great place for your humble artist to help run workshops, pass out advertisements, sit down with some readers, and maybe even sell a couple books.
All it takes is the money to put everything together. The print ads. The books -- we're up to three issues now, and issue 4 should be available by con weekend. The merchandise! I'm thinking buttons, magnets, stickers...if we can't afford them all, we'll put it to the vote of the reader base and see what you all want most.
In addition to being for sale, some BICP items will become prizes in this year's Make a Manga Tournament, which the artist is helping to judge. Con attendees, don't miss it.
And whether or not you'll make it to the con, please donate! You get custom artwork, nifty BICP paraphernelia, and the warm glow of aiding a cartoonist in need; I get a crowdsourced pseudo-venture-capitalist investment in my projected overall profit margin. Everybody wins!
Send BICP to Otakon!
That's the spirit!
Please pitch in if you can. Every bit helps, and every donor will be greatly appreciated.
Whether or not you have the spare change right now, though, do keep reading the comic...and wish me luck!
