Once our Kickstarter campaign ends we'll still be taking orders on our website HERE.
Have you ever used a power strip, plug adapter or extension cord? Why? Not enough plugs where and when you needed them?
Today's solutions for this problem are to rewire your home, hire an electrician to install more outlets, cut sheet-rock, spackle and paint, use bulky solutions like power strips, or unplug and re-plug constantly. These are just mediocre solutions that we've all come to accept.
NOT ANYMORE, in just 5 minutes you can install theOUTlet and always have extra outlets at your fingertips. theOUTlet can double or even triple the number of outlets in your home; hidden until you need them. Open the Possibilities...
theOUTlet with 2 USB Ports is now AVAILABLE!!!!
With a quick and easy installation that fits into a standard electrical box, theOUTlet is always there for you, functioning exactly like a “normal” outlet. Then, when you need more outlets just Open the Possibilities with the simple push of a button, instantly doubling the amount of outlets; where you need them, when you need them.
theOUTlet can be installed in any orientation to fit your needs or use location. Opening to the left, right, or even vertically for baseboard applications.
Installation is extremely easy. There are three simple color coded screws as well as text to guide you through the process. Not only clearly labeled live, neutral, and ground connections but also white, black and green text for the wire colors. It just doesn't get any easier to install.
theOUTlet also includes Tamper Resistant features built into the housing. This means there's no need for these annoying things anymore!
The basic 15 amp versions are designed for the home. 20 Amp and GFCI versions are being designed for the garage and outside the home. But, concepts are in the works for industrial and commercial applications as well. Imagine theOUTlet in every Airport, Train Station and Office Building. The applications are endless.
If you are anything like us, you are always looking for that point of differentiation that you can supply to your customer. Imagine being able to double the amount of outlets in your customer's home without using large boxes or chasing new wires. Offering your customer a unique and elegant solution to proactively address their needs. In their bedroom, in their office, under their bay window. Anywhere in their home they need more outlets but don't want to chase new wires or cut sheet rock.
Engineering is complete, multiple utility patents are filed (PCT), Safety Certification is Pending, and manufacturing is established. We have the solution, the experience, the expertise, the passion, and the determination. All we need now is your support. Be the first to fund the hottest new product to hit the market since sliced bread.
We have a very robust product pipeline already under development. We have chosen to focus our resources for launch however, on the basic 4 plug product and the 2/USB stretch goal. Other products under development are listed below. So yes, we will have that version too.
theOUTlet with 2 USB's is NOW unlocked, upgrade TODAY.
For only $7 each, we will include two USB ports into the product for stretch goal #1. Or, you can back the new USB tier as well. See our project update for further details.
You may or may not know that all USB ports are not created equal. Ever plugged in your tablet only to see a message that this device is not supported? Or your device is not charging? Here's a great article explaining how USB ports are actually designed to charge at different rates: http://www.wired.com/2013/12/charging-devices-faq/. The USB ports we're including are individually capable of charging at 2 Amps (2000 mA). But if you plug things into both of the USB ports, they'll share that max power and each device will charge at less than 2 Amps. In General, we can charge one tablet or two phones.
Why did we design the product this way? In fairness, we did it because of the constraints with the size of our product. As you can imagine we've fit a lot of things into a tiny footprint inside your wall (4 plugs and 2 USB's where there's normally only 2 plugs)! One of our goals from the beginning of the project was to retrofit into as many electrical boxes as possible to make installation as convenient as we could. In future versions we could make the product slightly larger (requiring a larger wall box) and increase the capacity of the USB's.
Help us reach $55k in Funding to unlock Stretch Goal #2 (Colors)
We know that all outlets in all homes aren't white, so at no extra cost to you, we think we should have some color options. You can see some colors in the below image that we know are common in the big box hardware stores. But we want to hear from all of you about the colors you think make sense for your product. So at the end of the project, and once we've unlocked this stretch goal, we're going to send out a survey to see which top 3 colors people want and those are the ones we'll make available.
We are the type of people that represent why Kickstarter was founded. A small start up company with a great idea and a BIG dream of sharing our solution with the world. No big corporation, no hidden agendas, no corporate financing, no massive infrastructure or stock holders to answer to. Just two family men that have the needed expertise, with an evolutionary product, that can and will improve people's lives.
Risks and challenges
We aren't going to sit here and say there are no risks. Major corporations fail to bring projects to market from time to time. So yes it's a possibility that our product may run into road blocks, launch late, have compromised features from what we expected, etc...Kickstarter recently had an analysis of their fulfillment success rates done by the University of Pennsylvania and they found that roughly 10% of projects on Kickstarter fail to deliver, which is impressively low. You can read the report by clicking the link at the end of this section.
What makes us believe that we'll be in the 90% successful delivery group? This is where our experience and dedication come in. We've been in the consumer packaged goods industry for a long time, seen success and failure many times, know what to do and what to watch out for. With your support behind us we feel like we could conquer the world (and oh yea, launch theOUTlet)!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
