THE LAST LAMP NEEDS LIT!
We are near our final stretch goal - From The Lamplighters' Lips. Included in this goal are 7 motion graphic animated adventure hooks for your game, 7 audio adventure hooks, and a brand new Actual Play podcast. The lamplighters themselves will provide hooks into adventures and intrigue in interactive elements you can use at your table to create incredible immersion.
We're nearly there, we just need your help to light the final lamp!
Want a Preview of what these may look like? Just look above! Our kickstarter video and the preview are done with existing art and resources available pre-kickstarter, but the final 7 entries will be done with additional art, extended scripts, and specialized techniques not available at the time of the kickstarter creation.
If you've already backed and want to help get the last lamp lit, share the campaign on social media, in gaming groups, or with people who might be interested.
With your help, we can make even more awesome things for The Streets of Avalon!
Welcome to the Streets of Avalon. This massive fantasy city holds adventure, intrigue, and a darkness that comes from its denizens, both above and below. This Kickstarter is to fund the sourcebook for the city of Avalon along with additional material through stretch goals to add more darkness to the city and provide supplemental material for the world’s most popular role playing game.
The Streets of Avalon has a gazetteer of the city covering the people who live there, the areas of the huge city, the economy, festivals, religions, guilds, noble houses, weather, seasons, magic, monsters, and a partridge in a pear tree. It’s all in the gazetteer.
There’s also a GMing section which provides advice on how to make the city of Avalon come to life and what gives an Avalon game its distinct feel. It also covers the idea of the neighborhood as an adventure location, having a base of operations, and a number of adventure types: Political Intrigue, Dungeon Crawling/Treasure Hunting, Heists, Investigation/Crime Solving, and Monster Hunting. The final part of this section has information on the races and classes that exist in Avalon, how they function within this setting, and what changes you might need to make, if any.
Then, three example neighborhoods are provided which you can use to run your adventures in Avalon right out of the book if you’d like.
There’s also a lot of flavor in this book. Art, letters, quotes, and sidebars which help GMs and players understand the tone of Avalon.

The Streets of Avalon is planned to be a 6" x 9”, 110 - 130 page book, with black and white interior art. The text is already done, and we have some art assets. This Kickstarter pays the team for their hard work, purchases additional new art assets for the book, and puts money into creating additional content for The Streets of Avalon.
Shipping isn’t easy and is often the death of many Kickstarter campaigns. To guarantee that we can deliver what we promise, we will fulfill this Kickstarter through DriveThruRPG. For PDFs you will receive a coupon allowing you to download the PDF for free. In addition, the PDF will be in your DriveThru library, allowing you to access it and download any updates.
For those getting printed books, you will receive a coupon to discount the retail book cost. You can then order the book at the printer cost and pay for shipping from the normal shipping options available.
YOUR PLEDGE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COST OF PRINTING AND SHIPPING OF THE BOOK.
By our estimates, softcover book printing will cost about $5.00 USD. For shipping in the US, we estimate that to be about $5.00 for standard shipping.
For International Shipping see the DriveThruRPG estimated costs here.
Using DriveThruRPG helps us to minimize the risk where many Kickstarter projects falter: printing and shipping. We also get to draw upon the established system and expertise of DriveThruRPG. It also means we can use ALL of the funds raised by this Kickstarter to make The Streets of Avalon and future SoA products with the highest quality and professionalism possible.

Risks and challenges
At Encoded Designs we believe in being professional, which means delivering quality products on time. We have been publishing our products since 2014, and this is our second Kickstarter. We have minimized our risks for this project in a number of ways.
Project Management. Phil Vecchione is a professional project manager with 10 years of experience. He has been leading this project since it started and will be leading it until everything fulfills. Phil will be providing weekly update reports to backers.
Simplicity. With this being our second Kickstarter, we’re trying a few new things, but nothing crazy. We decided to put in only one special item level with a limited number, to make sure we can deliver them promptly. The rest of our stretch goals are PDF, where we have a high degree of confidence.
Printing and Shipping. As a small company, our main priority was to make sure that we could deliver books to our backers. In order to minimize risk, we decided to utilize DriveThruRPG for this project.
Calculations. To make sure our estimates were sound, we modified the financial model from our first Kickstarter and tested a number of scenarios. We also improved upon our previous model using the data and experience from our first Kickstarter making us more confident in our educated estimates.
Product. We did not start this Kickstarter until we had the manuscript in hand. You are not backing this and waiting for us to finish the text. The manuscript has already been through several editing passes and if you’re reading this, know that we will be heading into layout as the Kickstarter ends.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
