Encarded keeps our Kickstarter projects simple, so the reward levels to the right are easy to understand. PICK YOUR PRIMARY REWARD FIRST from the options on the right, particularly if you want one of the limited items. If you want to add on further products (extra decks, coins, etc) refer to the ADD-ONs section below and adjust your pledge dollar amount.

In early 2012, playing card projects on Kickstarter were a rare thing. Only a few had been successful, but when the Tendril deck appeared it was a sensation, going on to become a Kickstarter Staff Pick, handily breaking the funding record for a playing card project, and giving Encarded a proper launch.
Since then, Tendril decks have been fiercely fought over, with most collectors not letting any of their decks go. We have produced many projects since then, all of which have sold out, but Tendril is the one that we constantly get requests to reprint.
We promised never to reprint Tendril, but since 2012 we've had ideas for ways to expand the design motifs to new decks, and today you can help bring not one, but TWO new Tendril designs into reality.
The first deck we call Ascendant. Its design incorporates all the refinements that we have learned over the years and mixes those with the organic symmetry first seen in Tendril. The colors are bold, the borders are intense, the faces are dark and the level of detail has been increased.
Nightfall is a mirror of the original, with much the same art and layout. We designed the original to be as if you were in the tropical rainforest, peering up at the sun through the natural habitat. Nightfall is that same view, but time-shifted to the evening, when the moon is glowing and the light is cool and dark. We subtly refined many aspects of the original design and added some visual texture and detail. Nightfall is the perfect companion to the original Tendril deck.

Tendril Trilogy "MegaTuck"
As part of the TT Reward tier, we are hand making a special 3-deck box we call the MegaTuck. It will hold one of each deck in the Trilogy: Tendril, Ascendant and Nightfall. It is hand-crafted of fine papers, with precision cut viewing windows that will show the three holographic signature seals from each deck, as well as a top window to get a small peek inside. There is a contrasting belly band with a hand foiled Tendril design and the individual edition number. The box will be signed in silver ink. Because these are handmade, and because we have only a handful of original Tendril decks left, this is a very limited item. We do not currently have plans to offer this special item again.
Limited Belly Band Edition
This limited reward will be great for any collector and will feature 3 pairs of decks: one to open, one to keep sealed and the final pair will have a handmade, precision-cut belly band which is signed and numbered by designer Paul Carpenter. This final pair of Ascendant and Nightfall decks will also have the holographic signature seal with the edition number written on the spine. We'll make 50 of these collector sets and they will be available starting December 12th at 7pm EST.
"Individual Edition" Numbered Seal
To reward our early backers with a small perk, the first 500 Ascendant and first 500 Nightfall decks will feature a custom numbered, holographic circular seal on the back of the deck, on the cellophane. It will be positioned so that you can easily open the top of the cellophane and use the deck, keeping the numbered seal intact. We will make an effort to generally give lower numbers to the earliest backers, and will aim to give "matched pairs" whenever possible.
Encarded Gold Coin
As part of the Deco card project I produced just 100 Encarded coins. I slightly misjudged the demand, so I ended up with only 1 of them for my private reserve, which is a little slim. So, this time around we are going to produce the coin in Gold and I'll be sure to have a few extras made. Any extra production will be available in the store, but I cannot guarantee how long they'll be available so this is the best time to secure one. The coin is silver dollar sized (1.5") and has a beautiful ribbed edge just like real currency. The original came out lovely with a perfect weight and feel, and the gold version will be equally nice. Below is a mockup of the gold coloration, using the v1 as the sample.
Holographic Signature Panel
The custom holographic panel is a special seal that is designed to wrap around the front, side and back of the deck. It features Paul Carpenter's signature on the front, your hand written initials on the side of the deck, and the Encarded logo on the back. It will be placed on the bottom part of the deck so that you can open the top cellophane if desired. This can be added to any deck reward as an add-on (see details below).
After selecting your primary reward, if you would like to add on any other items please use the "Manage My Pledge" button and add on the total value for the items you would like in addition to your main reward value . You will be able to specify your selections in the survey after the project has completed. The prices below include the extra shipping charges to add these to your existing reward.

To maintain consistency with the original deck, both Ascendant and Nightfall will be printed by the US Playing Card Co, to the same Q1 standards of all Encarded decks. We will produce a minimum of 2,500 of each deck, but more will be made if the project requires it. As with all Encarded projects, these two decks will only be printed one time. Decks may be available in the Encarded store after the completion of this project, but Kickstarter rewards will be delivered first and will cost slightly less. Your best chance to get these will be to back this project.
Risks and challenges
Encarded has been producing decks for years and we understand all the challenges. This will be our 4th Kickstarter campaign and we've personally shipped nearly 20,000 decks across multiple projects. We don't use third party fulfillment which helps ensure that decks are packaged as perfectly as possible and we have a well-established shipping system.
The biggest variable is simply the printing time from the US Playing Card Co. We have printed a number of decks with them and expect that the 6-8 week delivery will remain consistent. We have cautiously set the delivery date in March, but based on past experience we could ship earlier than that. If we do have any unforeseen production delays we'll communicate clearly and promptly on any possible issues. Encarded has a proven track record of delivery and quality customer service.
