We're in the final stretch of completing our newest beast: our original comedy, There's Chinese Tunnels Under Boise! (grammatical error intended).
Some of you may have seen the first iteration of this show 12 years ago at Neurolux: then it was called There's Chinese Tunnels Under Boise! And Other Local Legends and was written and performed by the incomparably funny Tom Willmorth, Ira Amyx, Dale Slack and our own Nick Garcia. For those who did see the original, be forewarned: this new version is an entirely re-imagined experience -- with time travel, butt rockers and a super sweet heavy metal soundtrack. BUT there are a few key elements from the original show that remain integral here, and we give full credit to Tom, Ira and Dale for those gems.
For this new baby, we jump headfirst into rehearsals on July 1st and have one month to get our shit together, a.k.a., make the magic come alive!
Boise Weekly graced us with a Cover Auction grant that will cover half our expenses, and we need to raise the other half to pay for: our cast, crew and designers; 60 yards of heavyweight velvet for drapes; equipment; printing; costumes; space rental; and the rest of our set.
Our play synopsis and production details are below. Read up and if this project resonates with you and you can give a little or a lot to see it to its fruition, we thank you and will strive to make this the coolest experience imaginable (we know, it's a tall order, but you gotta try, right?), and to keep creating original shows that rock your world (at least, we hope).

We love and thank you!

Meet Dwayne and John, two 20-year-old metal-heads cooped up late at
night in Dwayne's parent's basement in late-80s Boise. The video game
The Legend of Zelda has just been released, and Dwayne's already
collected five fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom. His unrequited high
school heartthrob, Lina, is supposed to come by tonight, though she's
put him off her entire trip home from cooler-than-Boise Seattle. Can
Dwayne get John out of the house before she shows up? Or will John
convince Dwayne to come out to Pojo's with him? Will Lina actually show
up? Are there actually Chinese tunnels under Boise? And what the
f#@&'s up with that record player?
Join us for a journey not unlike the game of Zelda, where our friends might just enter the underbelly of Boise, and collect a few fragments of wisdom for themselves.
