About this project
Hi! we are currently a team of 3 awesome programmers with extensive programming experience across a wide range of platforms.
We set out to make this game a few months ago and have found an amazing artist as well as a promising musician to create all of our art / animation and sounds / music for Novus: Tanaak's Quest.
We have amazing ideas for Novus: Tanaak's Quest and want to give this game every little bit of financial help that we can to make it the best that it can be. This game is so different and unique in terms of mechanics that we want to make sure it doesn't come out as just another mediocre game.
Novus: Tanaak's Quest is a perfect blend of some of the classics that we all love and was inspired from games such as Super Mario Bros., Flash Back, Mega Man, Metroid, etc…
This game will have a truly retro look and feel. All graphics are drawn 1 pixel at a time using an NES color palette to limit the number of colors and offer that amazing 8-bit retro style that everyone loves so much.
The game offers a unique combination of various genres including platform, puzzle, action, adventure, sci-fi and just plain old shoot 'em up.
We hope that this will be the 1st in a series of games that will keep you entertained for many days, weeks, months and even years to come. The only thing standing in the way of creating this truly amazing game are finances which is why your support will be so very important to us.
Novus: Tanaak's Quest - The Story
The basis of Novus: Tanaak's Quest is you are a Toloran named Tanaak from the country Tolora which is on the planet Novus who must journey through underground facilities spanning multiple laboratories that were setup by some of the first Toloran's to to settle on Novus in hopes of saving the ancient race from bio-mechanical infestations that are responsible for wiping out most of the Toloran civilization. Your ultimate goal is to repair and restart the core by replacing a stolen crystal.
The adventure will take you through numerous challenging mazes and sometimes rather difficult tasks along with Boss fights at the end of each world. There will be walking, running, jumping, shooting, and of course monsters at each turn to keep you on your toes.
Our projected completion date should be around the end of July 2013. Novus: Tanaak's Quest will initially be released on the Mac OS X platform and will be available on 10.6 and later. Following the OS X release, we are planning on releasing Novus: Tanaak's Quest on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad within a 2 month timeframe.
We are also working on a port of Novus: Tanaak's Quest for the PC, Xbox360 and possibly Playstation mobile but availability on these devices will largely depend on the amount of money raised on Kickstarter. Our budget to complete the game to be released on the Mac OS X platform as well as the iOS platform is $25.000. If we reach $100,000 we would have the financing to port the game to the PC, Xbox360 and possibly the Plastation mobile.
The porting to other platforms will also depend on how well the game does on the initial platforms.

Risks and challenges
What we've learned so far designing Novus is that you may start with 1 vision but by the time you are done, 1 vision turns into many many more. You find yourself rewriting large sections of code to accommodate a new enemy or weapon. You may need to redesign the levels to make them easier after you've had several friends testing them. Sometimes as a worst case scenario, you just start over when you realize you have poorly structured something from the beginning.
So far, we've been able to overcome all of our obstacles, though they did cost us quite a bit of time, we feel that the adjustments that were made are worth the additional amount of time. We want this game to be great, lets face it, every game has glitches we just want to ensure that the glitches are very very minimal to nonexistent. The challenges will come I'm sure as we near our proposed deadline. This is most likely because, when you are passionate about something, you want it to be perfect in every way and sometimes that can be hard to achieve when you are on a deadline but I'm sure we will manage.
There are no challenges now or in the foreseeable future that should prevent us from completing this game and making sure that all of our backers receive their items as promised.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
