While I was at the Kubert School working on the piles of homework we get, I watched all my favorite tv shows and movies, including Harry Potter, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gravity Falls, Stranger Things, etc. I love young adult fantasy genres (especially the good ones) because throughout all the adventure and excitement, there are characters that resemble ourselves and the changes that we go through too. So, every time I finished one of these shows or movies, I had that lost feeling of “WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NOW THAT HARRY HAS FINISHED VOLDEMORT?!?!”
That lost feeling turned into determination, and I said, “Welp, since there’s nothing left from these stories, I guess I will just have to make my own.”
Willowbrook is a fictional town that is set in the woodsy areas of upstate New York. Eliza Anderson (our protagonist) and her black cat Willow arrive in Willowbrook to find her grandmother, Minerva Proctor. Eliza finds out soon that the entire town is riddled with creatures from different worlds, so she stays to help her grandmother, while unraveling the mystery behind her purpose there.
This fully watercolored 20 page story contains silliness, funny jokes, a love for spooky (not scary) creatures, exciting adventures, awkward teenagers, and dramatic moments.
In my last year of school, I became a freelance layout artist for DC Comics and then I worked for Dynamite Entertainment as a freelance artist on Miss Fury: Joy Division, interiors and covers. I have also done some freelance lettering work for DC Comics. Deadlines are an important factor to me ever since I have been at school (never missed an assignment, and DAMN PROUD OF IT!).
With this experience, I realized that it was important to prove yourself as a competent comic book artist, so I decided to run my own Kickstarter to show my dedication to my work and my story. Kickstarter gives us a great opportunity to really showcase a different kind of comic and to show people that I want my own story heard.
I have 5 pages and the cover of the comic already finished, so I will be working parallel to launching the Kickstarter. The comic will be finished when the Kickstarter is! At that point, Willowbrook will be sent to the printers, and shipped a month or two later, depending on rewards.
I am SO excited to be putting Willowbrook #1 out for the whole world to see. Thank you so much for taking a gander at our Kickstarter and I hope you all enjoy reading the first issue of what I hope turns into an ongoing series!

Depending on the size of the audience that this project attracts, estimated delivery on drawing commission rewards may take slightly longer than recorded. I will be sure to email you if this holds true. You will still receive your reward, it just may be later than expected in case of high demand.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
