Emerald Rae :: Fiddler & Folksinger
Welcome to my Kickstarter Campaign! I have ten brand new original songs to share with you -- all inspired and fueled by my love of traditional fiddle and dance music. I plan to release them all on in a self-titled album next spring (May 2018). This will be my third solo album to date -- and my first album entirely made up of my own compositions.
After spending a couple of decades fiddling around the traditional Celtic music scene, I've ventured out of my own to explore the world as a fiddler-singer-songwriter. By blending together rhythmic string patterns and vocal harmonies, and experimenting with a lot of different backup techniques, I am striving to create a sound that is groovy and captivating.
$5000 will get the album from start to finish. Here's what I need:
- Recording costs, studio rental and engineers' fees
- Photography and graphic design
- CD pressing & manufacturing costs
Just look at the rewards! There are digital downloads, signed albums, tickets, lessons, house concerts, and even certificates for those who want to give this as a gift this holiday season. Or you can Customize it! and create-your-own-reward.
Every little bit helps! I truly appreciate each contribution -- no matter the size. I could not do this without your support, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. May all wonderful vibes float in your direction.
Please share with those you think will enjoy the music!

Boston-based Fiddler & Folksinger Emerald Rae creates a groove-heavy sound reminiscent of old country blended with the intricacy of Celtic fiddle and rocked-up droning accompaniment. Complimented by sultry vocals and introspective lyrics that mirror old folktales, Emerald Rae brings the fiddling-singing combo to a whole new plateau. Her intriguingly quirky songwriting is steeped in the echos of traditional music, sewn together with imaginative arranging that will pique your curiosity. Her latest release “If Only I Could Fly” (2013) showcases her prowess as a multi-instrumentalist.
Risks and challenges
To avoid any delays in production, I've set a manageable timeline to achieve this goal. After this campaign, I will record in January so there is plenty of time to polish the songs I've written for optimal recording quality. I have booked shorter recording sessions to maximize my energy and my vocal power while I'm in the studio, and plan to have the tracks mastered and the music portion of the project "in the can" by the end of January.
By this time, I hope to have a teaser of the album cover ready to go and will update by backers on progress as we go along. The remaining months will be used to promote the upcoming albums release. Should anything go wrong, need to be re-recorded, re-mixed, re-mastered, etc. There will be plenty of time to do so. In my wildest dreams, I would actually love to give my backers a first listen and get the album out to them before the release -- as a thank you for the long wait.
