Designed to be the world’s safest bike light, Laserlight Core tackles the issue of cyclist visibility in vehicle blind spots, projecting an image of a cyclist 6m in front of your bike.
The Laserlight Core uses patented laser technology, and the projection is proven to make you up to 32% more visible* (*independent study by Transport Research Lab).
We launched our first version of the Laserlight on Kickstarter in 2012 as Blaze. We then set ourselves the goal of making a product that could bring the safety benefits to as many people as possible.
This vision led us to create Laserlight Core. We’re now returning to Kickstarter to launch this product that we’ve re-engineered from the ground up.
We have incorporated recent advancements in laser technology to bring you our sharpest laser projection ever, powered by our patented laser projection IP.
Ensuring you can see and be seen. The white light has been designed with city riding in mind, and has a Day Flash mode that beams out an impressive 400 lumens.
This gives you optimum visibility all round, even during the day.
Made for all-weather riding. Laserlight Core is IP54, meaning it will ride safely through winter and wet days.
Never be without light. Charge wherever you are, using a standard micro USB. No need for a custom cable.
Modes to suit those longer rides, as well as the daily commute.
We took our community's feedback on board and have worked hard to bring the weight down, without compromising on performance.
The Laserlight Core weighs 100g with its bracket, and just 91g without. It measures 10.6cm end to end, is 3.3cm wide, and 3.9cm tall.
The mount is a simple, tool-free silicone bracket with a click-on, click-off mechanism.
Impressive front visibility asks for an equivalent at the rear. Pair the Laserlight Core with our new Burner Brake - our latest rear light with a brake light functionality which allows you to communicate to other road users when you slow down. Save 25% off RRP.
The design process begins right here in London, at Beryl HQ. We started with the product concept and vision (to bring a next-generation Laserlight to market) followed by the tooling and design refinement process.
This starts off with many rounds of 3D printing for the first prototypes. This is the first time the lights come off the page and can be held in your hands.
Finding the right manufacturing partner is key. We are working with partners who have been manufacturing our Laserlights for over four years, including 13,000+ lights for our bike share partners. Tooling is finished and early Laserlight Core prototypes off the tools have started.
Transparency in our supply chain is hugely important to us. In 2016, we decided to begin the long process of becoming a certified B-Corporation, committing to ourselves, our board and our backers that we wanted a solid supply chain that could deliver, sustainably.
We are in the process of completing certification and strive every day to meet exceptional standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
We are committed to giving cyclists a responsible choice when it comes to staying safe and visible on the roads.
Our patented Laserlight technology has been tested by some of the world's most discerning cycling journalists, and reviewed by national publications across the world.
Here's what a few of them had to say about us:
Only a few days before the launch of this campaign, the Laserlight Core won a iF award for its design and innovation. The product impressed the jury of TAIPEI CYCLE d&i Awards, consisting of experts and renowned designers from the industry. We couldn't be happier with this result, and can't wait for you to ride with our new light.
Since 2012, Beryl has been growing in size. Starting with two employees, the company is now close to 30 people and has a design workshop in-house.
Emily Brooke, Founder + CEO
Emily is Founder + CEO of Beryl (formerly Blaze) and the inventor of the Laserlight. She is dedicated to developing solutions for safe urban cycling, with technology and design at the core. The journey began as a university project in 2012, launched on Kickstarter in 2013, and now ships to over 60 countries worldwide. After Laserlights were fitted to the London Bike Share scheme, Emily was honoured with an MBE from the Queen, for her entrepreneurial endeavours and 'services to transport and the economy'. This is Emily's third time Creating on Kickstarter, and she's incredibly excited to return to the platform where the first Laserlight concept was launched, over six years ago.

Risks and challenges
We have felt the pain of suppliers letting us down in the past, and only committed to a Kickstarter launch when we were certain that we had the right partners in place. We are committing to getting all Laserlight Core lights shipped out to backers in time for Christmas 2018.
Since the early days of the company, we have been designing and building technically advanced and robust bike lights. We have also manufactured products that are used on bike share across the world, left outside night and day, ridden by thousands of users, and exposed to every weather condition including sub-zero temperatures.
We are committed to making the best quality lights in the market, and have increased our warranty period to reflect our commitment.
Because of our confidence in our products and commitments to backers we’ll provide a two year warranty from date of delivery. The battery is under a six month warranty - to understand how to best take care of your battery, visit support.beryl.ccLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
