About this project
- Enthusiast and up Tier Update: Adding a Third Eye Games lanyard to the Enthusiast Tier and all those above it, so you can further show your support at conventions and events. So, if you are interested, just move up your pledge to at least the Enthusiast Tier.
- Adventure Add-On ($5): We have special adventures from Sean Patrick Fannon, Jack Norris and Bill Bodden on tap, but if you add $5 to your pledge, you'll also receive an additional adventure from none other than the creator of AMP: Year One, Eloy Lasanta.
- Character Pack Add-On ($10): For those backers who are interested in getting Laminated sheets, you can add $10 to your pledge to get a pack of 9 characters and the cheat sheet. This Add-On is available only to backers getting a physical copy of the game. Note: Those at the GM Starter Pack level automatically receive 18 of the unlocked Laminated characters and the cheat sheet as part of their pledge.
Short Pitch: AMP: Year One is a Modern Age, Generation One RPG. Players become the first of their kind in a modern world of conspiracy and danger. This game has been written and developed by Eloy Lasanta, fully playtested to be as awesome as superhumanly possible and is ready to be packed with amazing art with your help!
Long Pitch: Third Eye Games is back with an awesome new RPG entering a new genre we've not done before... supers. Yes, AMP: Year One is our brand new game of super-powered individuals, steeped in widespread conspiracy with a darker modern feel. Players take the role of people who are developing seemingly random superpowers and explore the ramifications that occur in the world due to such a grand event. AMP: Year One tells the story of the early days (the first year, if you hadn't already guessed) and how these people survive their new world of danger and wonder. It brings the feeling that these characters aren't "heroes" or "villains", but whole people in their own right with powers that could allow them to go in either direction. It becomes each character's choice what to do with their new abilities. Inspirations include movies like Push and Wanted, shows like Heroes, Alphas or Misfits and obviously comics like Gen 13 and Teen Titans. The X-men, in all its iterations, is also a huge inspiration from all three media sources.
AMP: Year One is powered by our brand new DGS-Combo system. Those familiar with other versions of the Dynamic Gaming System already know it to be a highly flexible system that uses only 1d20 and is great for intense drama/action. The DGS-Combo takes it one step further and fully integrates powers and character Loyalties into almost every die roll, bringing your character to life in many different ways.
The backstory for AMP: Year One is in-depth, mostly involving government experiments that have lead to nine different categories of superpowers, called Strains (after the DNA serums used to created them). Each Strain gives characters access to certain powers, but also possible side-effects. With these customizable and combinable powers, players can create many of their favorite supers from pop-culture or create their own fleshed-out super-powered individual to take on the world.

Over half the money earned by this Kickstarter will be going to create all of the artwork needed to make this an amazing game. We have the awesome Maxim Lardinois using his unique style to really make this game stand out. We have many more pieces to share with you along the way.
The end result will be a 7"x10" sized RPG with black and white interior art, available in softcover for $30 or hardcover for $40 with a grand release at GenCon 2014. Best part about backing, however, if you'll get it about a month earlier for helping us make it a reality in the first place!
We also have T-shirts, posters, bookmarks and laminated character packs to sweeten the deal, but the majority of the money will be going toward production of the book itself.
$7,000 - Bonus Adventure
If we hit this mark, we'll be commissioning an adventure written by Jack Norris (DC Adventures, Marvel Heroic Roleplaying) that backers will receive for free!
$8,000 - Additional Pre-generated Characters
AMP: Year One includes 9 ready-to-play characters at varying levels of power. If we hit this goal, we'll include another 9 for a total of 18!
$10,000 - Beginning Comic for AMP: Year One
With this goal, we'll be able to include a full 15 page comic, showing some of the exploits of characters in AMP: Year One that will be included at the beginning of the book.
$11,000 - Second Bonus Adventure
If we hit this goal, we'll commission a second adventure free to all backers, this time by Sean Patrick Fannon (Shaintar: Immortal Legends, Champions).
$12,000 - Additional Pregenerated Characters 2
We add another 9 ready to play characters to the already impressive list of 18, to make it a total of 27 pre-generated characters!
$13,000 - Third Bonus Adventure
If we hit this goal, you'll receive another bonus adventure free to all backers, this time by Bill Bodden (Wild Cards - All In, Mutants and Masterminds). Bill also contributed a short story to an anthology called Sidekicks, released by Alliteration Ink.
$15,000 - AMP: Year One in Full-color
AMP: Year One is printed in full-golorious-color in both the softcover and hardcover versions. Woot!
$18,000 - Continuing the Comic
We produce an issue #2 to continue the story from the comic at the beginning of AMP: Year One. This will be a separate comic that will be shipped separately.
$20,000 - To Be Announced
If we reach this high, you and I will both be happy.
Risks and challenges
AMP: Year One has spent about a year in development and has been playtested thoroughly. It is about 80% done, as of the beginning of this Kickstarter, so we hope to be able to get funding and produce all the art we need to get this book out to everyone quickly. The art is our biggest obstacles, because we are budgeting for more art than we ever have for this book. We are well-versed in what it takes to produce a great RPG, as this is our 8th Kickstarter (all the other 7 being quite successful), and are planning well ahead of time. So, barring a major catastrophes, we'll be able to hit our July deadline with no problem.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
