New Kickstarter project about strong women making waves
A couple of updates -- after taking a bit of a break, we have several new Elly Blue Publishing projects coming in the next year (including a new feminist bicycle science fiction book!). I wanted to let you know first, though, about one our parent publisher Microcosm just launched today that I think will appeal to you all.
Soviet Daughter: A Graphic Revolution is Julia Alekseyeva's debut graphic novel about two strong women finding their way in two different fairly hostile historical eras—her great grandmother, Lola in the Soviet Ukraine, and Julia herself in the modern world of Occupy. Like The Velocipede Races, it tells the story (nonfiction this time!) of two women determined to do what they aren't really supposed to... in some cases simply surviving.
We've been working on this book for several years, but it's become especially poignant in the wake of the recent US election. The comics format makes it all come to life in a way that's entertaining and thoughtful. I think you'll like it.
There's a sample spread below, and you can check out the project at this link:
Thanks, and best wishes to you all for the holiday season,
Elly @ EBP/Microcosm
