Bark Bar's mission is to provide the pawfect space for dogs and their owners! No need to miss the party, here you can woof away your worries while your fur babies and friends enjoy the day! No begging here, we provide excellent service of coffee, local brews, barktastic cocktails and tasty treats in a welcoming, inspired space, featuring Arkansas' first indoor/outdoor, off-leash dog play area and bar.
We have found the perfect home for Bark Bar, in a long-vacant Mission-style church building in Little Rock's burgeoning SoMa / Quapaw area, with a great side yard. We have put together most of the funds needed to get Bark Bar open, and we've got the basics covered. We are turning to our future members (like you!) to help push us across the finish line. Proceeds from our Kickstarter campaign will be used to fund the dog play area and agility course, which we hope will include a puppy pool to help your pooch cool off on those hot summer days!
All canine patrons will need to be members of Bark Bar so that we can keep records on file. Doggie memberships are available on a daily, monthly, or yearly basis. A day membership is just $5 per pooch. Monthly members pay $20 for their first dog, and $5 for each additional dog in their household. Annual memberships offer the best value -- $150 for the first dog and $25 for each additional dog in the household.
By supporting our Kickstarter campaign, you can not only get your pooch's first year membership at a discount... You also can be sure your dog's sweet face will be part of the Bark Bar's permanent decor, as we will be putting photos of all of our Founding Members in a special place on the wall. Have more than one dog? Don't worry, you will be able to add additional dogs for $25 each, and we'll make sure their pictures all get on the Founders wall. Please see our webpage for more information on membership!
Risks and challenges
Opening any business presents many risks, but there are some risks that are unique to the concept of a dog-centric bar. In order to ensure the safety of our canine and human guests, we need to create and enact comprehensive safety policies and procedures. We need to collect current vaccination information on all dogs for our files, and keep a vigilant watch for potential health or safety risks.
Your fur friends will be allowed to roam and play (with your supervision of course), however, the occasional dog scuffle is inevitable. The Bark Bar will be staffed by a "Bark Ranger" that will be in the yard and trained on best practices and doggie first aid. The "Bark Ranger" will also respond to any situation - from a spilled drink to a lifted leg.
Bark Bar's greatest challenge thus far has been getting through various layers of red tape. We obtained a zoning variance from the city, and we are in the process of getting our kitchen and bar plan approved by the department of health. With a great team of architects, contractors, and other visionaries, and with your help, we are on our way to making Bark Bar a reality!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
