Elevate Hockey has developed a first-of-its-kind, offset shaft hockey stick that features Dual Axis technology. This new, bent design will revolutionize the game of hockey. Changing the shape of the shaft places the stick in a more natural, ergonomic position, provides mechanical advantages – leverage and torque, and improves the loading and unloading dynamics of the stick. Based on feedback from player-testers and goalies, we are finding that our new stick elevates performance in all three of the player-stick-puck interactions: puck handling, passing, and shooting. The Elevate stick delivers many benefits to the player, including faster shots, a quicker release, and better accuracy, ultimately leading to more goals scored.
Bent is Better.
We have executed many critical steps to-date including filing three patents, developing three generations of prototypes, conducting more than three rounds of on-ice player testing, and preparing a rigorous and thoughtful business plan. We are poised to succeed in our endeavor and deliver a revolutionary new stick to the game hockey.
To elevate the game of hockey by challenging the status quo to develop revolutionary equipment that improves players' performance and increases players' and fans' enjoyment of the game.
The Stick: The Elevate XL27
The Elevate hockey stick - the XL27 - is developed with patent pending Dual Axis Technology. By bending the shaft, creating an offset between the upper and lower shaft and the blade, three sources of benefits are created: (1) improved ergonomics, (2) greater mechanical advantage, and (3) better loading/unloading dynamics. All of these benefits combine to provide many player-realized benefits including faster shots, a quicker release, and better accuracy. Ultimately, delivering on our mission, we believe the Elevate XL27 will help players perform better and score more goals.
Bent is Better.
Much like when the curved blade was introduced more than 50-years ago, the curve in the shaft allows the player to maintain contact with the puck longer than with a traditional stick. This benefits the player in several ways:
More Velocity: Players can apply force to the puck for a longer period of time and engage the larger muscles in their body when executing a shot resulting in more velocity.
Improved Accuracy: The ability to maintain contact with the puck for a longer period of time allows for a more accurate shot.
Quicker release: The Dual Axis Technology provides players the ability to create more torque in a shorter period of time resulting in a quicker release.
We have spent more than 3 years developing our current stick design. Beginning with the concept in 2015, we have created more than 5 prototypes across three generations of sticks. Each generation of stick has gone through rigorous on-ice testing, now totaling more than 75 player sessions and more than 50 individual players.
In the video below, Tim Pearson, our stick development expert, tells the story of our product development. Tim has more than 25 years of experience in the hockey stick industry and has worked for many of the major brands in the hockey stick market.
Player Testing and Feedback:
We have tested three generations of sticks with more than 50 individual players and more than 10 goalies. In our early rounds of testing, we received encouraging feedback about the concept of the offset shaft, but we knew the design wasn't right...yet.
However, in our recent (May 2018) testing of our third generation stick - the XL27 - we received much different feedback from the players. Over 90% of the more than 40 player-testers rated the Elevate stick better than their regular (straight-shafted) stick. Based on that response, we made the decision to move forward with our launch plans, beginning with this Kickstarter campaign.
In addition to the strong player feedback we've received, we also have consistently heard from goalies that they don't like playing against the Elevate stick. Goalies complain that in addition to the shots being harder, quicker, and more accurate, its also harder to anticipate the shot and more difficult to track the shot from an Elevate stick. Check out this interview with one of our test goalies.
Elevate Hockey has worked with the same manufacturer for three years, since we began making our first prototype. Our manufacturer has been in the hockey stick industry for more than 15 years and manufactures sticks for several major hockey stick brands. In 2017, our manufacturer made nearly 1 million hockey sticks. All of our stick designs are rigorously tested by the manufacturer in their lab to qualify the design and structure. Based on our first hand experience and player feedback, we know the Elevate stick meets the highest quality standards for both performance and durability.
Thank you very much for your interest in our new hockey stick and and our company. We greatly appreciate your support to help us launch the XL27 and the Elevate brand!

Risks and challenges
Elevate Hockey has developed three generations of prototypes, all in partnership with the same team and manufacturer. We have already developed and tested our current stick - the XL27 - both in the lab and on the ice with more than 40 players. We feel confident that we can build and deliver a top quality product to our backers.
One risk we do face is timing. We know production delays can happen and this may impact the timing of our fulfillment. We have a pending order placed with our manufacturer that will complete our expected volume. Should our campaign significantly exceed our expectations, there may be delay in fulfilling later backers, but we expect all orders should be fulfilled by the end of the year.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
