About this project
Digital Maximum Power Point Tracking Thermal Controller (DMPPT450).
DMPPT450 as the name implies will support a max of 450A STC current so a total of 14kW of PV panels can be connected. Panels need to be the 60 cell types (most common and cost effective PV panels available).
I'm extremely excited about the potential DMPPT450 has in providing a very low cost heating (cooling also possible but more complex) option able to compete even with natural gas. So is not only green and renewable is also the most cost effective heating option that is why I designed this to use in my OffGrid house that will become a so called Net Zero energy house once the large PV array and DMPPT is installed.
The thing that makes the Solar heating cost effective is the low cost of PV panels and thermal energy storage but for much more details please read the above pdf document explaining all this in much more details.
Of course the DMPPT will also be an Open Source project as all my projects are and the DMPPT450 will have a proper enclosure similar to SBMS so it will not be just the board as you see on this first prototype.
Many of you already have the SBMS60 or SBMS100 from my last Kickstarter and those two models will be compatible with the DMPPT450 with a simple firmware update that will be available later this year when DMPPT450 and new SBMS will be ready to ship.
The new versions of SBMS will be backward compatible with existing SBMS60 and SBMS100 and some of the important changes are:
SBMS40 will be a cost optimised version of the SBMS60 since many people requested a lower cost SBMS and the main difference is that it will have smaller power connectors and a single PV input instead of two all other futures of the SBMS60 will be present including 2.2" color LCD and WiFi module for remote monitoring.
SBMS120 will be slightly higher power replacement for the SBMS100 and the main difference is again the power connectors larger and more robust than on the SBMS100 same that will be used in the DMPPT450 and a larger LCD 2.8" plus some smaller changes but all the functionality of the SBMS100 will be present in the SBMS120 including the WiFi that seems to be so popular :)

Risks and challenges
This will be my third Kickstarter project and based on the first two the only possible risk may be a slight delay on delivery if things do not work exactly as planed.
I will make sure to deliver exactly what I promised or more.
