- It is always has power when you need it**
- You can change or replace the internal battery***
- It has Easter eggs. (Not literal Easter eggs, but hidden features that make amusing use of the button.)
"Award Winning Technology made in the good old US of A!"
Or translated from Ad speak; Our Pocket Rocket™ had a podium finish at the San Diego Inventors conference for new consumer product. What's Better? The Pocket Rocket will be MADE IN THE U.S.A.
Where your money will go
The funds we raise will go toward the cost to produce molds for the plastics and production of the electronics.
The Story and Team Behind the Rocket
Our Founder, Michael Tyrannosaurus Kadie (T-Rex), was on a date. Long story short, her phone was dead and they ended up spending an awkward 20 minutes in her car waiting for her phone to charge. Suddenly it hit him “Why doesn't my car adapter have a battery inside?” And thus, Pocket Rocket™ was born. T-Rex is an Electric Vehicle Entrepreneur who has built / converted 14 electric vehicles 4 of which have set world records on the Drag Strip and the Salt Flats. His consulting company Simple Solutions Inclusive, LLC has developed Lithium Battery Management Systems for electric cars, battery storage systems, portable power systems, and medical devices. This technology is leveraged in the Pocket Rocket™ maximizing battery life and safety. With a love of science and space,T-Rex designed this into into a Space Shuttle, with the USB charge ports resembling rocket engines. T-Rex knew he needed help and he kept thinking about his meeting Buzz Aldrin through the ZERO SOUTH Polar Traverse Team. So he called fellow team member, Brock Winberg to join him on this mission and help with 3d modeling and marketing. Together with two interns, Avery Kucan and Russell Gore the team set out to bring Pocket Rocket™ to the masses!
* A power bank is a phone charger with its own battery <FAQ>
** Technically it only has power if it has had time to charge the internal battery. As it is usually sitting in your car adapter instead of a drawer, it is usually charged.
*** We are using a standard 18650 lithium ion battery for our internal storage with a battery management system. This can be changed out to a spare battery, and can be upgraded as battery technology changes.
Risks and challenges
We have been working on the Pocket Rocket for over a year. We have been through 5 revisions since the first prototype, what this means is that you will get a Pocket Rocket that has been tested and works. The Pocket Rocket requires PCB design, assembly and testing. With any manufacturing project there are risks, however we have minimized many of them by going through multiple revisions before Launching on Kickstarter. One current risk that could be encountered are parts shortages from suppliers, this could be mitigated by ordering from multiple vendors. Manufacturing the plastics is the largest cost to us at this point, Backing The Pocket Rocket will largely pay for the cost to build molds for the plastics. The challenge here is keeping within time constraints, to do so we will leverage our experience, as well as professional mold makers and turn key contract manufactures to deliver on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
