Throw Throw Burrito is what you get when you cross a card game with dodgeball. Try to collect matching sets of cards faster than your opponents while simultaneously ducking, dodging, and throwing squishy airborne burritos. The cards you collect earn points, but getting hit by flying burritos loses them. So clear some space and put away the antiques, because you’ve never played a card game quite like this before.
Since we created Exploding Kittens four years ago, we've been making games that bring friends and family together around a table, away from their screens. We brought this game to Kickstarter because we believe that adding a bit of physicality to game night is what comes next.
So, if you're into the idea of party games and weaponized Mexican food, please help us make this game a reality. We think you'll love it as much as we do.
Hugs and missiles,
-Elan, Matt, and the Exploding Kittens Team
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
No Funding Goals, No Backer Goals, instead we want you to enter the Burrito Bowl!
Compete in a series of incredible events to test your burrito themed prowess and we’ll upgrade your games for free!
Throw Throw Burrito started when our friend, Brian Spence, pitched a new game idea to us and we immediately fell in love. Over the next eight months, we worked closely with Brian to tune the game, design the cards, and destroy most of the fragile items in our homes.
The game went through many versions.
First, there was the "Mangoes with Animal Heads Phase":
Then came the flying animal ideas:
Then so many Mexican food ideas:
After finally choosing a name, Matt got to work on the cards:
We wanted to put this project on Kickstarter because it's the fastest way for us to get the game into your hands and make improvements as a community. We think this game is great, but we need your help making it even better.
So if a world full of weaponized Mexican food is a world you want to live in, please back this project and help us build this game.
With love and mad strafing skills,
- The Exploding Kittens Team
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge for our team is building the throwables. Since our Exploding Kittens campaign in 2015 (followed by Bears vs Babies, and You've Got Crabs), we've learned a lot about making cards and have shipped over 8 million decks of our games worldwide. But throwables are a new challenge. We're working with the finest toy manufacturers in the world to make sure that we deliver the best materials that are fun to throw (not too light) and don't hurt when they hit you (not too heavy).
It's also very important to us that everyone gets their game on time. We don't want this to be a campaign where you spend the next two years getting fifty emails about production updates and delays. If you back this project, we want you to start throwing burritos at your friends as soon as possible. This is why we're not offering t-shirts or other non-game related reward tiers that would make the distribution process take a lot longer. We're keeping it as simple as possible: support our project and in return we'll send you the game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
