Any chance of some "dog" cards in the Exploding Kittens game? Maybe Dogs can defuse kittens? Or eat their own poop?

      @Jon Easley, @Cherie Dickey -- I had posted the same thing before I read Jon's post/comment.

Add me to the just ship it list. I'm watching the main thread (not sure if those people have lives other than posting to Exploding Kittens) about what would make up the next two dozen expansion decks. I'm all for the ExpKit team to grab their ideas and start a new Kickstarter, I'm in as a backer.

But I want to see these decks first. Not really sure about the "goals" stuff. I'm waiting on a board that I want that the goal was to make it also a USB Host. I don't need that, don't want that and the developer is finding out that it's hard to do. So it will be a little longer.

But if you MUST have a goal then "If we make it to 6 million dollars we will ship ALL the decks in 30 days!!!" That should eat any extra money in the project.

    5. Gregory Gritmon on

I think it would be great, for your next stretch goal of course, to create a small (10-20 card) expansion pack exclusively for the kickstarter backers!

Can't wait to play the game!

I think Jessica's idea for a stretch goal of "firsties...nanner nanner boo boo" is brilliant!! Personally I would add a couple bucks to my pledge to reach that stretch goal and/or super-size my exiting pledge.

I am already planning the party for the first time I deploy this game. Having trouble finding a local stockist for bulk mantis shrimp but I'll for sure stew some goat.
Congratulations on 130k+, guys. This is an amazing achievement.

Reading up through these comments I just essentially saw someone say "I agree that we don't need more stretch goals to attract new backers! But I agree that it would be nice if they included more extra stuff for those of us that are already here!" Those are so almost practically the same exact thing... :S

    9. Cherie Dickey on

Jon Easley, perfectly said, so I am reposting.

"Please do not get caught up in offering more. The reality is that these things do cost money to make and even though 5 million is a lot, there are also a lot of products to deliver. The logistics cost of shipping 100k+ products should not be underestimated. Not to mention the difficulty in producing that many decks. Let these guys produce what you agreed to pay for. It is amazing to me how only on KS do people want to go back to the store and say "I would like to have more stuff now." When we pledge we have already agreed to back for a certain price and that is what was offered."

The logistics of this is going to be a nightmare. Aside from shipping and general production, it's going to take an army of workers to get these packaged and on their way to backers within a month or two of them even recieving the finished product. Unfortunately since there are so many backers, there are that many more trolls with entitlement issues who will expect not only more free stuff above what they already agreed to pay for, but they will expect instant gratification as well.

There should be some cards devoted to the best of the best of these trolls because the guys will almost certainly recieve some colorful messages when things don't go the way originally planned.

What about an extra card called "Overly Obvious" something that is slightly larger than the other cards. It could be a known defuse or like an "Overly Obvious Kitten" that you know will be the end for someone.

    11. Brendan Riley on

It looks like you aren't going that way anyway, but please NO TO TINS. I don't want a tin.

I do like the idea of a small pack of KS exclusive cards added to the regular deck.
I also like the idea of PDF translations -- perhaps set up to print to a specific sticky-label brand so they could be printed and stuck on the cards? I don't know if this is a thing people do or not.

200K Backers - Stretch Goal - **Smart phone game**

I'll introduce the cards to all my friends, I shall laugh maniacally as I deploy my lasers, balls of yarn and the occasional goat - but how can I satisfy by need for kitten based mayhem whilst on the train, flying or in critical work meetings?

200K backers gives you instant community, minimal leadtime impact, can be a bonus for any $5+ backer, hits the international postage problem. Special edition updates can keep the community alive ... and the long tail math is very very nice.

Kirk nelson, a rather reasonable request - at the time of the 100k backers stretch goal, we were at $3 million dollars - a long stretch goal would have logically been at 4 or 5 mil, but we are already beyond those numbers - i agree with you, kirk - any stretch goal we have likely already earned, so just grant and gift it to us - the suggestion of multilingual translations with pdfs adds zero weight and incurs zero additional printing and shipping costs - the often asked for tin would add weight and increase shipping costs, and a large majority of backers are in the two deck tier - i don't know how it prices out, but if adding the tin and the additional shipping is covered by the additional 2 mil, why not set a 5 mil stretch goal and deem it instantly met?

Rather than a stretch goal (as it was pointed out, you don't need to entice more backers) how about a few rewards for those that have pushed your project past $5 million? We all want to play it. We all want it to show up on time. But there is not a single backer that's going to open up their package and say, "Aw shit. There's EXTRA stuff in here." You're a creative bunch, I'm sure you can come up with something. Now get busy...there are kittens exploding for Pete's sake!

    17. Lissa M.H. Oliver on

What about making the game and the NSFW game standardly playable by more people as a stretch goal? Making the decks larger or including a second game with the order so that people can play with larger groups?

The tins in place of boxes are also a good idea. I think that you can keep the same style box in the picture where it opens from the top like a book but put a hinge on the tin and make the edges magnetic so it stays closed. Or alternatively to magnetic you can add a clasp.

      Just adding in my ideas,

      Lissa

Re my earlier remark about useful stretch goals. I have seen some people asking for translations, and like the idea as a useful stretch goal that will not delay delivery if you make these available as downloadable PDF's. I guess there are plenty of backers willing to assist through a wiki (or review official translations). From the download stats you will get some idea if it is worthwhile to translate the game itself in a particular language as well.

Worries about delays: Exploding kittens are best when you do not know when to expect them.....

I have backed >100 projects and the majority was late. And not a few weeks, sometimes over a year. I accept delays, in return for updates about the ups and downs of getting the project done, a video of production, some nice photos. These are the best part of KS as it will build a community.

Now my rabbit asks for attention.

I would like it if, as stretch goal all the kickstarter backers get "kickstarter exclusive" cards or cases (I like the tins idea) or something. Not that it would have to say kickstarter, but like "firsties...nanner nanner boo boo". Oh, also for the people who are saying they'll have logistical issues; did you not see that their card people are CAH? I think they know a little bit about distributing cards, and apparently poop in boxes....geez...

I don't want more stuff. I'm happy with the revamped level of getting a full NSFW deck. The backers are way over the top, the logistics of printing, packaging and shipping this much stuff (and I'll bet it doubles by the end) is pretty daunting. They presently need to ship almost 250,000 decks of kittens that explode.

At a deck a minute, working round the clock it's 173 days to ship all of them.

Working a regular 8 hour day, it will take 30 people a month (22 work days).

That's assuming their printer can go from "Hey, we want 2,500 decks of cards" to "Ummm, we should have said 250,000 decks" and still get the same time frame.

If you dig into KS history, the huge ones all had problems with delivery. While in a startup business that may be a happy problem, it soon becomes a wild dragon you are trying to ride.

Hoping there is an "angry ghost of tesla" card!

I agree, stretch goals are unnecessary, as on-time delivery is more important, but if you must have one, id prefer a tin for the cards instead of a paper box.

Nicer card paper is OK, but might be uncool to mix with future expansions that are not as nice.

What JC said! I don't mind waiting a bit for my awesome boxes of awesomeness. It'll be just that much more awesome when they arrive, and give us a great excuse to throw a party in, say, early July. After all, what else is there to do the first week of July...can't think of one thing...

    28. Gabriel on

I second this thought: "But what some other games have done is upgrade the card stock of the cards to a nice 300gsm linen finish as well as a thicker box with linen finish. I'm sure this could be something the printer would do as your order will be way larger then what you originally thought."

Higher quality materials should be less expensive with such a large order, and shouldn't delay the production. Even if it needs to be a $5 upgrade or something, I'd still be very interested.

    29. Erin Riggsmith on

I would love some blank cards to take to artist friends and conventions. Maybe as a stretch reward? Or, as someone else said, discount codes for future expansions.

    30. JC on

Reading a few comments below, here's a very weird idea: create an add-on tier for $1 that specifies that we don't mind receiving the decks much later than the estimated ship date. It's completely backwards (paying for a later ship date), but many people here seem to be of the generous and thoughtful sort and asking for the opposite (paying for an earlier ship date) would just be... not cool. The patient among us would be rewarded with good karma, the impatient or otherwise-oblivious would be rewarded with shipping priority, and you creator beings would hopefully be less stressed about the massive amounts of orders you'll soon suddenly have looming over you like a gigantic purple walrus.
Or maybe just a tick-box if you do Backer Kit. Check this box to acknowledge that you are patient and don't mind waiting at the back of the line with the other patient people because there are plenty of kittens to be exploded for everyone, but some people want exploding kittens on their birthdays and such. And then if there are just tick-boxes, there can be an impatient one too, I suppose.

    31. Jeff on

Agree with others, we should have probably hit some stretch goals already. Perhaps you will back pay some stretch goals? Maybe we don't need more but if you are might I suggest some ideas? I do like the free international shipping, and a free future expansion but after the Kickstarter stuff ships (we all want this with minimal delay)

But what some other games have done is upgrade the card stock of the cards to a nice 300gsm linen finish as well as a thicker box with linen finish. I'm sure this could be something the printer would do as your order will be way larger then what you originally thought. Nagotiations could bring it for a great price I'm sure.

    32. Jared Politi on

How about a discount or free expansion deck code to use on a future expansion. Then you can focus on getting the already expanded game out on time yet still reward backers in a few months down the road with an expanded game? Numbering the decks, adding a special Kickstarter green card to the main deck, signing the box are other ideas in mind...

The greatest "stretch" goal for this kickstarter would to have it be delivered on time in July 2015. I just want the game.
