We're so excited to offer this new $150 reward donated by West Virginian artist, writer and photographer, Betty Rivard.
DESCRIPTION: New Deal Photographs of West Virginia, 1934-43, by Betty Rivard, is a book of 150 photographs of everyday life that were taken by ten professional photographers who visited the state as part of the Farm Security Administration Project. The book will be published by WVU Press in the Fall and includes a foreword by Carl Fleischhauer and essays by Rivard and Dr. Jerry Thomas.

A number of the photographs in Chapter 10: Southern Coalfields were taken in McDowell County in 1938. The photos you see here are just some of the stunning images from the coalfields of McDowell.
