About this project
Hello, my name is E.J. Easterling. From my early youth, I have always loved daring adventure, perhaps in part because my late father William Easterling, worked with the early American space program. Those were very exciting times, especially for a young American boy. You can well imagine my disappointment upon learning the news, in the summer of 1964, that my father had accepted a new and less adventurous position. My family relocated to Central Virginia, where my parents had purchased an old home that had been built in 1889, along with 25 acres of land. Our home was nestled in a gap between two magnificent mountain ranges in Bedford County, Virginia. Little did I know that the real adventure had just begun.
I soon discovered that an old frontier road had passed through our family's property. Great men, such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Boone, and Davy Crocket, had journeyed on what was then called The East / West Road. Tens of thousands of our American ancestors had also passed through this lonely gap during the Great American Migration to the southern and western portions of our young nation. What I eventualy discovered literally altered the course of my life. I unearthed a legend of 29 Virginia Gentleman led by a daring young adventurer named Thomas Jefferson Beale. In 1817 Beale and his men passed through the family's land on their way out west on a hunting expedition. Sadly, in the 1820s, they disappeared without a trace and were never seen again; but, before they disapeared, they were said to have left a buried treasure, hidden here in Bedford County, Virginia.
I have spent over 20 years researching Thomas Jefferson Beale and his men and what has come to be known as The Beale Treasure Mystery. In 1995, I published a book and a cassette audio book entitled, "In Search Of A Golden Vault, The Beale Treasure Mystery." All of the books and audio books sold out many years ago and are now considered rare collector’s items throughout the United States and around the world. I have been urged on numerous occasions to reprint the book and reproduce new editions of the audio book. I have purposely waited for the proper time to act on those requests, and now is that time. The year 2012 will mark the 195th Anniversary of The Beale Treasure Mystery; and, to commemorate that event, I plan to release a 195th Anniversary Limited Commemorative Edition 1817 - 2012 CD Audio Book. There will only be 1,000 commemorative packages available and they will be numbered from 1 - 1,000. Each package will be numbered and signed by the author, on a first come first served basis; and each package will come with a Certificate of Authenticity that will also be numbered and signed by the author, as well.
Since 1995, I have been interviewed and featured by the affiliates of CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, and NPR, as well as The National Geographic Channel, The BBC, The Travel Channel, and SBS TV of Seoul Korea. I also appeared in the award winning documentary, "The Treasure of Thomas Beale."
The video above contains a small sneak peek of what I believe will soon become a rare and valuable collectable.
