"Transit Fashion" will be a 6 x 9 inch 44-page art book by Eileen McLain containing full color illustrations of street fashion. All art in it is based on real people and outfits seen on the subways in New York City between 2012 and 2013. I've always been interested in fashion illustration for its gorgeously rendered clothes, but a lot of it falls flat for me because it treats the people wearing those clothes as placeholders to model the clothing on a three-dimensional form. Fashion is a mode of personal expression, and to me, the people wearing those clothes are just as important as the fashion itself.
In making this art book, I've taken actual street style I've seen on public transit and done illustrations that showcase a wide range of not only clothing styles but also gender, age, body type, and ethnicity to represent the diversity of NYC.
The initial goal of $1,800 will allow me to self publish a print run of the "Transit Fashion" art book, which will be shipped to backers and shown at MoCCAfest in New York in early April.

Risks and challenges
The largest potential issue would be delays from the printer, but I've added a four-week buffer period onto the time I've estimated it'll take to get rewards shipped to you. Even if there are delays, they should not effect you! The postcards, prints, and stickers are being printed by companies I've worked with in the past with no issues. There will be also be extras of all rewards on hand in the event that any packages are lost in the mail.
The artwork for the book is currently 95% complete - I've saved some coloring to do on a live stream so you can watch me work while the Kickstarter is running. The only thing left to do between funding and the book going to print will be laying out the thank you credit page with the names of all backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
