GDC and USA

Hello! After a month in the USA I'm now back home.

Hello rainy SF!
Hello rainy SF!

My first stop was rainy San Francisco, where I attended the Game Developer's Conference (GDC). It was amazing and exhausting. I got to meet a truckload of other developers, including some of my idols (Tarn Adams, BFOD, Lucas Pope, etc) and people I'd known online for many years. I got to play a tonne of interesting games, including Return of the Obra Dinn, Kingdom, and GNOG, and saw a few amazing talks.

Although there were hundreds of interesting talks and presentations, I skipped most of them and spent the majority of my time meeting people. When the sun came out most of the indie developers hung out in the park, which made it easy to meet people. Overall it was very worthwhile and I'll try to go back next year and take Moonman.

After the conference, Steph and I took a road-trip up the coast with our friends, Jasson and Kelley (developers of Crea). We drove through small American towns and amazing redwood forests, all the way up to Portland. After a few days in Portland, Steph and I then caught the train up to Seattle and stayed with some Australian friends of ours. We then flew home on an epic series of flights that took 24 hours, including stopovers. Here are a few bad photos I snapped with my cheap phone.

After a month off I'm now ready to work towards the Beta release of Moonman. I've completely forgotten how to code but I'm sure it'll come back to me...

Those curved escalators were crazy, there were 4 levels of them forming a circle in the middle.

Turns out that goat has a twitter account: https://twitter.com/DearTheGoat
