Prosperity – Italy, 1434: the year the destiny of medieval central Italy changed forever. A new era was about to spring, Renaissance. Events of great significance occur both under a political and religious profile that shocked all of Europe at the time: a fleeing pope was certainly not something to be taken lightly, as well as the new view of the rule of the Medici in the city of Florence.
Behind Prosperity lies extensive research and study, because we wanted the Middle Ages! Attention has been given to details normally overlooked in games. Be prepared to feel like you are traveling in time as you take a visual and emotional journey through the events of the time period!
Prosperity is the Middle Ages!

ERA FOR GAME MASTERS! - In
Prosperity we wanted to introduce a concept that has been lost in time: that of
the “Creator” Game Master, a figure (in its current state we have already
selected three withyears and years of experience with MUDs and in
D&D) that will be a constant part of Prosperity's active players. These
figures will have access to a control panel on the web that will allow them to
insert an object, such as a town, a castle, a tower, a house, or a market into
certain locations within the game map. (Click for more details)
LIFE SIMULATOR – Fidelity to the time period in which it is set and its simulation of life in the Middle Ages (Click for more details)
MISSIONS – Players will come in contact with a wide range of historical events while playing. Up to them to participate into those missions, or let the events happen, without contributing to them.
Here is a partial list – (to be continued – just click here):
The Medici family takes control of Florence!
In 1434 the Medici family are elected the new Lords of Florence, exiling all opponents – the Albizi and Strozzi families. The reign of the Medici in Florence begins with Cosimo the Elder.
Pope Eugene IV is on the run!
The Colonna family of Rome facilitates the restoration of an autonomous communal government, and for this reason the Pope is forced to flee into exile in May 1434. He was helped by the Florentines, arriving in Florence on June 23rd.
Ancona is conquered!Between 1433 and 1435 Francesco Sforza is the commander of the Milanese army against the State of the Church. He conquers Ancona, in the process obtaining the title of vicar of the city of Pope Eugene IV.
MASTERS - Each Master under your rule will be of noble ranking and by paying him you will ensure his services for life, or until he is dismissed. (Click for more details)
The Treasurer will be responsible for managing all that is your territory, your possessions, and your resources, observing the needs of your village or town.
The Master of arms is an experienced expert in recruiting and training new troops. He will decide what style of combat to implement and how to best arm your soldiers.
The term “Cerusico” derives from the Greek words 'Cheir' and 'Ergon', which translate respectively to Hand and Labor; in fact the Cerusico was someone who utilized his hands during the Middle Ages in the field of medicine, while attempting to cure and operate under entirely inadequate hygienic conditions.
The Herald is a fundamental figure in diplomatic relationships among Nobility of the time.
SYSTEM - During the Middle Ages several methods of payment existed, each one nearly equal to the other: money, trade, and favors. In Prosperity your Treasurer will be able to barter specific resources to obtain others, or you will be able to exchange land for military aid, or even simply use the popular monitary unit of not only fifteeth century central Italy, but throughout Europe of the time: the Fiorino. FACTIONS - In Prosperity, the player will be sought after by the two greatest ancient forces: the Papacy and the Empire, both, of course, holding enormous wealth, militias, and privileges which they were willing to impart on their loyal subjects. Players will be able to choose whether to build their reputation on the Papacy or Empire, or to attempt neutrality in order to avoid visits from their rival army. (Click for more details)
- THE ELECTIONS - Elections occur approximately every 15 days and are held by secret ballot. They allow for the selection of a chief Papal and Empirical representative. If the player opts to remain neutral, s/he may abstain from voting or alternatively cast a vote without incurring in any modification to their reputation, as many dynamics of the game will be influenced by election outcomes and power holdings. Risks and challenges
Prosperity - Italy 1434 originates from the dream of someone who has always had a passion for video games, particularly those who value logic over graphics, and it is exactly this characteristic which sets Prosperity apart from other video games. We started EGA (Entertainment Game Apps), a company founded with the aim of creating an ambitious project that has lasted several months and whose intended result is to deliver a final product that has been handled and studied in acute detail.
We have divided the project development of Prosperity into three main phases:
1- The creation of a game engine (called “Life Simulator”), which is currently a work in progress. At the moment we are calibrating all parameters of life, death, and artificial intelligence based on models found in Medieval history texts.
2- The construction of Web APIs that facilitate communication between the Life Simulator engine and any type of client. This phase has recently been initiated and will last about two months, until October 2014.
3- The creation of clients: web or mobile devices. EGA is already considering a number of companies for the development of this final phase.
While we relied on our internal resources for the execution of the first two phases, seeing as we have the skills and experience necessary (the result of our work is the Prosperity Life Simulator, which you may test), the time necessary to complete phase three may vary, also according to the Stretch Goals that we will be able to receive. So now it is up to you: donate!!
In any case, given the success and interest generated in Prosperity over the last few months (nearly 3,000 likes in three months!) we will try to create the 2D client to meet the requests of our fans.
For this reason, we thought we'd give our fans exclusive access to a request for an engine test, called ENG-TEST-1, where once registered (as if each of you were actually playing) you would be catapulted into your small village, in a position assigned to you by the server, populated by characters that the server itself would provide.
However, do not expect advanced and intricate graphics just yet! This is not the game, but merely a window into the world that awaits: each character in your village will have his own life, gender, occupation, family, a mother and father. You will have several items in your inventory that will allow you to travel forward into the history of your village to better understand what will change day by day and how. This includes your Prosperity, the only element that will give you a leg up on your competitors.
Furthermore, following a suggestion made by our friend Ingrid, we have decided to insert the functional interfaces of the game as they are released, so that you may test them immediately and follow advancements in our work. And so, soon you will find various functions in which you can attack, conquer, and pillage a village and all of the objects to be acquired, sold, and used.
You are all beta-testers and you are all invited to participate in our tests, but only the most attentive and determined, only those who send in the most interesting and useful suggestions (by using the appropriate form), will be chosen as the Official Beta-Testers and consequently be the ones who will try the game on the client once it is available... we are waiting for you!
We thank you for the help you will give us toward making our dream a reality day after day.
