What is Cliphone?
Cliphone is a little headphone-shaped cord organizer always stays on the cord.
How does Cliphone work?
Cliphone is constructed with a stretchable silicon band co-molded with a nylon snap button. Its tiny but powerful body can stretch twice as length to accommodate more cables.
Where can I use Cliphone?
Cliphone works with most headphones. It can also be permanently attached to other cables with small heads, or just wrapped around cables to attach.
Please note in these images it's a prototype, final product will come with nice surface finish.
How to install Cliphone the first time?
Pinch two ends of Cliphone to enlarge the two slots on the silicon band and then insert the audio jack through the slots. The slots will help Cliphone stay tightly on the cable.
What color does Cliphone come with?
Mono set: white, grey, black
Rainbow set: pink, red, yellow, green, teal, blue
Glow-In-The-Dark special version.
Each Cliphone values $6 with retail price $12 for twin pack. To appreciate your support, here are some great rewards for Kickstarters.
Stretch goal! Check!
We reached $15,000 stretch goal, every backer will have this reusable PVC pouch package!
The package is made from durable PVC material and will contain 2 to 4 cliphones attached to a cardboard made from recycled paper. The PVC bag can be reused for storing your headphone organized by Cliphone! Enjoy it!
Who am I?
My name is Libao Wu, aka Seter. I am an industrial designer passionate about solving problems I see in my life. My background in both engineering and design helps me make idealistic ideas into realistic products. I always believe that a perfect balance between function and form lives in good products. This philosophy propels me through my design journey all the time.
I use my headphone a lot, but the untangling always becomes annoying. There are various cord organizers out there, but they are either bulky, cord-hurting, or unintuitive. As a designer, I start to design a cord organizer would make myself happy to use, which should be tiny, easy accessible, cord friendly, and intuitive.
What's Cliphone's journey like?
An intuitive way to organize headphone cord is to wind cable around fingers.
Started from that experience, I designed different ways to bind cables, and Cliphone became more shaped after I tested more than 20 various prototypes for half year in my everyday use.
With good contact with Manufacturers in China, Cliphone is ready for mass production, now I need help to proceed this step. The fund will be used to cover manufacturing cost including tooling, materials, production, packaging, and oversea shipping.
What's the production plan?
The tooling will take about one month, which can start within 1 week after the successful funding. Production will take 1-2 weeks including test run. At the beginning of June, I will be in China and visit the factory to make sure every Cliphone comes out with great quality. Oversea shipping will take around 2 weeks.
Cliphone is under patent pending.
Risks and challenges
Cliphone is a single co-mold piece, so we won't face major production issues. A challenge we foresee here would be how to split the amount of colors well. Backers have various color combinations for their rewards. I will send out surveys at the end of successful funding and make sure every backer will get their desired colors.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Sure, it does! Please check out the following link regarding compatibility with MicroUSB cable.
Yes! However, you will attach Cliphone by closing it around cable instead of inserting through slots. Check out update#2 to see more detail!
