UPDATE: 9 October 2015. £1000 STRETCH GOAL REACHED. Every badge will now include a bonus Abaddon After Dark sticker!
Edinburgh will be hosting an Ingress gaming event in the upcoming Abaddon Anomaly series, with agents from all over the world coming to town on 14 November. We're really excited about it, and some of our local Resistance players have designed a beautiful logo that we're using for the event, featuring a snake devouring its own tail.
We'll be featuring the blue Abaddon Ouroboros logo on some awesome collectible items for the day, but we need your help to get some cash to pay the folks making these wonderful designs into actual objects! So, our talented agent-artisans have designed another Abaddon logo for a strictly single edition pin-badge:
This Abaddon After Dark logo features a striking red Pythagorean pentagram – a symbol with ancient cultural resonance, in tribute to the spiritual theme of the anomaly series.
If this Kickstarter gets funded, we'll be making one batch of pin-badges featuring the After Dark design, and then the logo will be retired forever. Get in now!
The badges would be manufactured by a supplier we've worked with before, using hard enamel, which provides a superb shiny finish. The lighter regions of the logo will be silvery rather than white.
The size of the proposed badge is between 25-35mm height, subject to manufacturing constraints. They'd attach using a standard butterfly clutch to pin it to your shirt or jacket; although technically we suppose you could use it as an ear-stud we're not recommending it!
Risks and challenges
We want the best-looking badges possible, so we're going for quality workmanship and quality materials. We're using a trusted supplier to manufacture the badges, and have been working with them already to determine costings, timings, and make sure these items are physically possible.
The only concern that has been raised (by us!) is that the ornate Edinburgh skyline along the top of the logo is quite intricate, and it may not be possible to produce every detail. We are working with the supplier to remove finer details if necessary, but the final size of the badges would be 25mm, 30mm, or 35mm – as small as possible while still letting the design shine through.
There is a 3-4 week lead time in manufacturing the badges, hence the very short Kickstarter campaign so that we can be sure to have badges ready for folks to collect at the event on November 14. We'd begin mailing out the rest of the badges soon after the Anomaly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
