Out of the Box Thinking
Petricor is taking 3D printing out of the box. Our unique design and omnidirectional wheels allows Open House to print from the ground up and doesn't limit the size of the print like typical Gantry and Track printers.
While we are still not at the point where we are ready to print your next humble abode. This Kickstarter will help us develop the version that will print one for your furry friend or a sweet fence around your home.
The use for additive manufacturing in an industrial setting has always been the goal from the beginning of our research. In order to utilize additive manufacturing to its fullest potential, we found we had to first free the extruder from its confinements. In order to do that, we had to completely re-design what a 3D printer should look like and what it would be able to do.
During this process, we came up with a very efficient way to print with a low cost of both infrastructure and material use. Once this solution was conceived, we inadvertently revealed a multi-purpose automated tool. We developed a machine that is not just a 3D printer, but a powerful, flexible and adaptable machine that is able to perform multiple tasks and not just 3D printing alone.
We currently have a working prototype that is omnidirectional and has a functioning arm unit. We are developing our next prototype that will print and the development of this is what we are looking to fund with this Kickstarter.
With the money raised through this campaign, we can come closer to making our dream of creating a fully functional 3D house printer a reality. We'll be able to build the next prototype that will be able to print, something our current prototype isn't able to do, and sell that version on Kickstarter, to those of you interested in a smaller, Open Source version of our printer.
That campaign will help us get to our end goal of creating the fully functional house printer. It will allow us to have the finances to develop all the components necessary, do all the testing necessary, and get all of the Universities that we've wanted on board to assist in all of the areas of research needed to make Open House the best that it can be.
We don't just want to piece together any old 3D house printer. We want ours to stand out above the competition and be the absolute best. We want it to print with locally sourced materials to drive the construction costs down, making housing affordable for everyone. We want to make sure that the greatest care is taken in ensuring the safety of your build and codes are completely followed through with in whatever country you are building in. We want to make sure that any question you can ask is answered before our product is available for retail.
We also have bigger dreams than just printing houses. We want to eventually create Open Robot. The head of our device will be able to be interchangeable, allowing it to be changed out not just for different printing materials but for other types of tools. Petricor is thinking not just out of the box, but out of this world!
A Company with Heart
Petricor is also a company with heart. We see that there is a major need for affordable housing all around the world. In 2018 alone, there will be 1.6 billion people unable to secure affordable housing. In the United States, the average cost of building a home this year is $300,000, which is Building Open House is out of most individuals reach. Building a version of Open House that prints and getting our developer kit out to the public is the first step in the 1.6 Billion Home Project. The second step is to get the actual device into the hands of individuals who want to make a difference, to help us create an army of individuals who can help us create homes for those who can't afford to build homes through normal construction methods.
So...Why Back Us?
There's a few reasons that you'd want to back us.
1. You see that we are a forward thinking company and you want to get in on the ground floor. We have more to offer than a 3D printer and you also are excited to be involved in this exciting journey!
2. You're someone who loves technology and is looking for a 3D printer that will let you print bigger items that don't fit into a box.
3. You see the inequality in the housing market and want to make a difference. - You don't have to buy the printer! Buy a t-shirt or a key chain! It won't make a difference right away, but know that eventually it will pay off!
