...and THAT's where YOU come in...
Dear friends, family, fan, and curious browser,
Hi! I’m Eden :)
MEET "This Is Me"
When I moved from Brazil, where I grew up (see Biography), to Wenatchee (North Central Washington) seven years ago, never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would one day be on the verge of releasing a solo album, let alone one with my own compositions. At that time, I didn't even consider myself a songwriter!
It's funny. I can make music happen in my mind 48 hours a day. AND I can also have some amazing conversations in my head. But arrange those conversations into LYRICS to go WITH the music?? That's another story entirely! For me, it takes a TREMENDOUS amount of focus in a distraction free environment.—Hardly the picture of my day-to-day...
Aaaanyways...back to my story...
After dabbling in music for a good part of five years—playing open mics, playing for backyard bonfire parties, basement parties, garage jams, performing at community events, singing National Anthems, taking a performance hiatus, making lots of friends at karaoke, joining a cover band, quitting a party band...all the while trying to decide what "sensible" thing I wanted to do when I grew up, it dawned on me: STOP trying to be "sensible". "Sensible" as defined by society at large is overrated. The only thing that TRULY makes sense is to fearlessly give the talents you've been given a chance to achieve their fullest potential. And I wasn't doing that. I was waiting for... Really! What the heck was I waiting for?! Truth is, I was scared of "flying solo".
Well, "Life begins at the end of our comfort zone", right? So...in September of 2012, I decided to give my wings a try. I learned enough songs to start playing solo gigs and invested in a PA system that was small enough for me to haul around in my Kia...and in heels. (you never know!)
After the FIRST gig, though, I realized, I NEED A CD!!! At least that's what the general consensus was from the audience. SOooo…I began making phone calls, sending emails, and researching how much it would cost to record a professional album.
SONGS & MUSIC TEAM
In the process of doing my research, I met a now Washington based NASHVILLE PRODUCER—and former Nashville studio owner—who fell in love with my songs! (Right?!! What are the odds in WENATCHEE?!!) He personally invested his time so I could release "This Is Me" –my debut single, also the title track for this album that I want to record—because he firmly believes "These are REALLY good songs...They're songs everybody can relate to AND they're catchy, well written, well structured, ORIGINAL, AND commercially marketable!"
You see, because of my interesting background and upbringing, the songs actually branch out in several directions, as one Wenatchee World writer recently wrote in an article about me in the paper, “Moody’s unique style is a fusion of country, Latin and Brazilian rhythms sung through a pop voice”. LOVE that description! I would throw in a little rock there, too ;)
[BREAK TIME! Let’s pause to watch a music video]
Now here's why I wanted you to watch/listen to the above video/song: The musicians who played in "This Is Me" are the same musicians enlisted in this project (+more), and they are ALL tops in their field. They are Nashville session AND touring musicians for current mainstream artists. Unbeknownst to you, you've seen them onstage at the Grammys, ACM & CMA awards...and in cool pictures like these:
See that sharp guy rocking the stage with Carrie Undewood? That’s Chad Jeffers. And that Badass up there next to LeAnn Rimes? That’s Joeie Canaday… And guess what? THEY played in "This Is Me" (the single/music video), and THEY AND OTHER MUSIC MASTERS LIKE THEM WILL BE ONES PLAYING ON MY ALBUM!!! No big deal.
I know, right! $10,000 sounds like a LOT of money to me, but in reality, it is the BARE MINIMUM needed to complete an album consistent with the quality of the single "This Is Me". It is the MINIMUM needed to do these songs justice. I'll explain: while researching local studio/recording/musician rates, I found I could probably finish the album with two thirds of that amount, BUT it would lack the professional magic that to the listener—and to the RADIO!—sounds like BIG music.
Following is the breakdown of how the $10,000 will be used:
$1,000 - Kickstarter (5%) and Amazon Processing Fees (3-5%)
$6,000 - Musicians, Sound Engineer/s, Studio Time: Instruments
$3,000 - Production, Mixing, Mastering, Studio Time: Vocals
As you can see, the $10,000 does not include CD art, CD duplication, release costs, advertising, music video production, happy hours, pizza parties, or any other often overlooked expense such as travel and fuel expenses…OR Kickstarter prizes and postage!!! Yikes! Some of those bridges I am currently crossing, and others I will cross when I get there! First things first: THE SONGS!!!

Risks and challenges
Kickstarter is an ALL OR NOTHING fundraising platform. So the biggest challenge is that of reaching the $10,000 goal in its ENTIRETY by June 5th. If I don't, the project will receive ZERO funds... That translates to ZERO album... ZERO prizes. AND as Larry so well expresses in Silly Songs, "That'd be too BAD. I'd be so SAD."Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
